Status update + plans for the first half of 2021
Added 2021-02-21 18:34:12 +0000 UTCHey dear patrons!
I wanted to give an update to you all about my plans on going forward in 2021. In the last one and a half months, I went through some serious art block, felt bad about myself and skills and I barely managed to muster up any motivation to draw. I reached the point when it finally started to pass slowly, but I still feel the shadow of it looms over me. Regardless of that, here are my plans for the first half of 2021. The schedule changed some since my last status update, but I feel now that the art block and most of my depression passed, I can see more clearly what I want to do and how can I proceed.
February/March
My next focus is finishing the two remaining commissions I have. They both are big paintings with multiple characters, so they might take a while until they get finished - a lot more than what I planned with, because of the art block happened. While I dealing with those, I'll start churning out the Patreon gifts for my 10$ category for those who reached their first 120$ lifetime patronage and haven't received art before. These will be my primary focus for now, along with finishing the trade I owe for Drerika for 2 years now. I know it will be a permanent stain on my reliability when it comes to doing what I promised. Sometime in March, I'll also move home to my parents, but that won't take a big hit on my work process, since my computer and art equipment is already at home.
April/May
Once the commissions and the trade is done, I'll keep doing the D&D themed fat fur YCHs, until we have one art for each classes. I thinking about including the artificer and the blood hunter as well, since those are well-known classes outside of the Player's Handbook. Along with this, I have a comic commissioned with Foxcall from Squeakie, which I intend to color and fully shade, like I did the Form Fitterz comic. I originally wanted to reopen commissions around this time, but I feel my burnout and art block is mostly happened because I took up 14 commissions plus I worked on the weight gain selfie project, along with two D&D campaigns I have running. I know other artists can work a lot faster with a lot more efficiency, but I cannot and I need to be more careful with this in the future. Patreon gifts will keep rolling out for those who are eligible for it in the 10$ tier of course.
Summer
I don't have exact plans for what I'll work on the summer yet, but I want to focus a little on myself and what I want to draw. Patreon currently gives me a good enough income that I don't necessarily feel that I have financial difficulties, especially because I don't have to pay rent/food while living at my parents. YCHs most likely will still happen. At this time, I'd say maybe after summer, I'll be able to pull myself together to open for commissions again.
For the end, I never thought Patreon income will play such a huge part in my life, but it does and it really saved me a couple of times since I started it - so thank you all for the all the love, support and care you give to me, I couldn't be where I am now without you.
