Next Game: Baldur's Tickle!

Firstly, welcome to all the new patrons! I always appreciate the support, from you and all the kind folk who have been here a while.

I’ve got quite a few updates! So, I don’t like to talk about myself a ton, but as some of you may know, I left an unsatisfying job a few months ago, and as a result, I’ve had more time for game designing! That’s why for the upcoming project, I’m pleased to announce that I can accelerate the number of updates. Instead of one update a week, I think I can post one every five days. So, every month, there will be 6 game updates, instead of 4. And it means the game should be done in 2-3 months instead of 3-4.

But what game, you ask?

I’m pleased to announce: Baldur’s Tickle!

The development of this project is a somewhat interesting tale. I played Baldur’s Gate 3 in Early Access, quickly hit the level cap while exploring and... lost interest. When it had its full release, I was really happy for the studio, and it was great to see them rewarded with so many awards. I considered making a tickle game based on the characters, but the difficulty in making characters like Karlach really turned me off the idea. I didn’t really have quite the same resources and skill with the character generator I had now, so I put it off. When I finally got round to playing the game properly in mid '24, I was so blown away! I was a little wary of it feeling a bit too like Tales of the Ticklish Dragonborn due to the similar fantasy setting, and I also struggled a lot with if I wanted to implement a sort of dice-roll system and what implications that would have for gameplay. In the end, I went for something with minimal gameplay consequences but captured the spirit of it, and I think it was the right choice. Anyway, I really enjoyed making this game, and I hope you enjoy playing it too.

In my biased opinion, I think this is the best ‘first quest’, I have ever made. For the first quest (available for all!) you’ll be fighting Auntie Ethel, an evil hag as Tav, a male tiefling warrior with a heroic heart.

For the rest of the planned features, it’ll be 5 player characters (5 Tavs), each with two quests based on the key story beats of Baldur’s Gate 3. You can approach them in any order, like in Tales. You’ll see what it looks like once you enter the game. This game will contain a healthy amount of both /f and /m content.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Next Game: Baldur's Tickle!

You're testing my memory a little here, but I recall there was a special quest if you chose the 'dance with the devil' difficulty involving a guard that would glance at you during a conversation with another NPC (whom you had to notice and then talk to, because the game didn't bring any attention to it). This would lead to a questline involving a missing legendary character of some kind.

wait, there was extra tickle scenes in ToG?

Cameron O'Brien

Yeah, I loved ToG, but the fact that overleveling was a real danger and that you had to choose the 'secret high difficulty' mode to unlock extra tickle scenes was madness. I also can't even imagine the amount of time he had to put in to implement class systems, loot tables, levelling, a morality system, a secret companion in an older version of the gaming system... I mean, I respect the hell out of him for doing it, but one of the first things I decided when I first got into game designing was I would have very different priorities (I think my game designing 'manifesto' is still somewhere on Patreon!)

I'll take the same thing for Christmas myself. Thank you for not making your games cripplingly difficult. Some of those older ones were frustrating at times. Unfortunately, I have no way to contact him. I've been purely a fan of these games.

Knight of the Round

Hey. that's mighty kind of you to say so, my friend! I really couldn't do it without you guys. I think all I would want for Christmas is good health, plenty of time for gaming, and plenty of inspiration! It would be nice to get in touch with the OG game-makers, especially Tower of Gargalesis, but unfortunately, he doesn't seem to be on deviantart anymore. I don't suppose you know how to contact him?

10/10 you deserve a giant Christmas present. You just keep pushing out 🔥🔥🔥. Thank you for all the work and dedication. The OG TRPG makers would be proud.
