so, since you have already watched the second part, now I can also talk about this part of the lore. rob's words "what am I gonna do" are very important for the lore. it's not that he really cares about gumball or anything - no, he actually asked himself "what would happen to the show if gumball disappeared?". he needs a plan on how to make sure that all the other characters live their own lives, without relying on the laws of gumball's universe and himself. firstly, if gumball disappears, then the rob will lose his role, and perhaps fall into the void again. secondly, if the show literally has gumball's name in the title, then rob believes that the universe could literally fall apart without its main character. we've already seen the world fall apart because richard got a job, and changing the concept of the characters really does have a huge impact on how the show works and how everything functions. rob really isn't that stupid for a thirteen year old (yes, he's THIRTEEN damn YEARS OLD) and he wants to act like it. we will see in future episodes what rob will do with all the knowledge he has gained about the universe.
i also want to mention the more emotional side of Rob, because well, I just can’t ignore it. his character not only has great motivation and charisma, but also a very tragic backstory. just imagine that you are thirteen years old and you live an ordinary life - you go to school, you have friends, a house, sort of like a family. and then you find out that your whole life was a deception and someone else's invention, and it depends on some selfish, sarcastic loser who doesn't even remember who you are. you find out that there is no family at all (this is just my theory, but I guess that his show does not show the parents of any characters, then this means that they do not exist AT ALL, and until the characters are aware of themselves in the show, then this they won't even understand. yes, it's dark, but I love these theories hahaha) that none of your friends remember you, and your role is now a villain who can't even fit between episodes because the main character simply doesn't remember you. given that rob is only thirteen, he had to grow up early, and his line "I belong here, with all the rest of the world's mistakes" just breaks me. if you think about it like that, this guy has a trauma and it's so sad. he's the most well-written and deep character in the series, which is why he's my favorite.
also yep, the way gumball turned the other channel on while being in the void shows us that YES, they are in the giant TV and this remote is the real one, out of the real world.
