No... Don't eat that
Added 2024-12-02 21:06:32 +0000 UTCHi friends, I know it's been a little bit but I'm here to say this might be the last post I do for a little while as I am now entering the video making/editing stage. There might be a little post before the next video comes out depending on how well I can focus on video crunch time π If not, the next post you get from me here will be the finished YouTube video posted for you all to watch before it goes public, and a behind-the-scenes video containing some of my extra thoughts that didn't make it into the videoπ€©
This post however is about this small village's produce, and why all the villagers stuck inside it are starving or have starved to death. As you can see in the video, the watermelon, while looking good from the outside, is black and goopy inside- showing how inedible it is. This will be the case for all the produce found in this little farming town.
I wasn't sure I really wanted to do this because originally I wanted the produce to look perfectly fine and edible inside and out, but having them turn to blackened mush when stomped on seems to be a perfect way to communicate the idea that something is seriously wrong with the vegetables. Better to show than just tell.
So here's my thinking- the player can build up points (like experience points, they will have a better in-game name later) which can be traded in to get new abilities. The player will get these points from giving/trading the right items to the right villagers AND from stomping out the numerous vegetable patches around the village. The player will get the most points from trading the right items and the vegetables will give just a little extra on top of that.
This is a fairly new idea, obviously there will be more than just watermelons to stomp on, but if you have any thoughts on this I would love to hear them!
I hope you guys are doing well! If you are in the northern parts of the world I hope you stay warm and healthy! Love you guys!
