PHOENIX | EXCLUSIVE SET #2 OF JANUARY

Today I’m happy to share my first photoshoot with you of the new year – “Phoenix”! This set had several working titles like “Golden Bird” (reference to “Pink Bird”), “Golden Angel” and “Heaven’s Secret”, the last one is the name of a visual novel from Romance Club, which inspired me to create this look.

About lingerie

I decided to make this look one time searching on an online marketplace for something new. My gaze fell on beige-golden lingerie made of light lace. Then I had two ways: to find the exact material or get this item and re-do it. For me it’s always easier to do it from scratch (or sketch XD), however after several attempts I didn’t manage to find this fabric. I ordered the lingerie and drew a sketch of how my seamstress and I would change it. The differences were the following: (1) I wanted the bra to be with corset and lacing, (2) deleted “belt” and used these materials (band and lace) to do choker (can’t breathe without it XD) and hand parts - both with corset inserts. So my seamstress did all the sewing work and my part was adding golden eyelets and doing the lacing. There was an issue: if I drive in the eyelets to lingerie and just leave it, they will drop out → so I secured them with hot glue inside (on every detail). 

About patterns

I wanted to make the lingerie more interesting, so I did 11 pattern elements from hot glue. Primed them with liquid resin and colored them golden with spray paint. I took into account the mistakes of the past and thought about “how these parts will be attached to the lingerie?”. The solution was as simple as it could be. I got belt screws and drowned them into the hot glue when the details were very liquid and were in molds → it allowed me to screw them to any band or lace and not be afraid that something will fall. For small details I used holnitens and did the same. 

About wings and feathers

The most long work was with feathers. During my love of this feature I learned that it’s very expensive and hard to find good ones. So I got many and many wings with white feathers for children. Why not get golden ones? I wasn’t sure that gold would match the gold of my hot glue patterns – better keep the same color. Returning to wings, I did next: tore the feathers from the base, straightened all of them and cut were needed (to avoid fluff) → sticked them in rows to huge cardboards → colored them from 2 sides (it was necessary and make them less transparent) → I got about 400 golden feathers. Then I started to lay them out in the shape of wings I would like. The main task was: match the feathers by size and form: the wings are two-sided → it means I needed 4 sets of feathers mirroring another wing and another size of the current wing. After I needed to set up the frame: I did V-shaped frame from PVC and cut 2 needed pieces from a yellow transparent folder for papers. Why didn't I make all the frames from PVC? I got two answers: I needed a small base, which will hide under lingerie on back (with PVC could crack because of weight) and I love to take shots with light from the back (if the base is very rough, this frame would be visible – you would see on pic 1 that is not). So the final step was gluing all the feathers in the right order. Plus I wanted to close the white frame part underneath the corset bra and glued more feathers there → it gave the effect like wings are growing from my back! And last wearing of wings taught me that they are pulling away when leaning back – so I set two push-up buttons to the wings and straps on back – the best decision!  How I could fly with them – have you heard about bumblebees? XD

About crown and details on lingerie

I love making hair accessories like crowns and wreaths. This time I did next: connected 2 base metallic bezels with 4 nylon clamps from each side → put about 30 clamps on top basel and glued all of them to it → cut every clamp in different proportions to reach the good shape → colored in golden → glued golden feathers, colored laurel branches & roses in golden and stars (originally were bought for Yule Spirit). So we are done! For lingerie I used last feathers and roses. About the shoulder detail I forgot and remembered it on the day of shooting – I quickly made and colored the pattern details and laurel branches and attached them to beige band + push-in button to wear it.

About hair and nails

For hairstyle I did simple wavy curls. For nails I used fake nude nails with golden hearts on them. I want to make it a new feature – use different nail styles suiting looks.

About retouch and updates

In January all month I have exams – last one will be in two days. During the month I prepared for them and did costume work. After the exam I will start mailing finished sets as many as possible. Wish me luck!
