CRUELLA DE VIL | MAIN SET OF SEPTEMBER

Hi, sweethearts! <3

I'm happy to present you my Main Set of September - Cruella De Vil! That's a character I wanted to make for 2 years and the time for realization has come!

In summer 2021 I made my first design of Cruella after watching Cruella movie with Emma Stone. Then I started to know more about fashion and designers (and Cruella of course), watched videos on YouTube. One time I found review on costumes from 101 Dalmatians (1961), where Glenn Close played - it was a flash of interest for me. Designer Anthony Powell and seamstress Barbara Matera made a PERFECT collection - forms, materials, accessories - the whole style! I badly wanted to create something like this being totally inspired. I drew a scetch, bought fabrics, beads, got the wig, but I-don't-really-remember-the-reason I postponed it. 

Nowadays I changed my original design - deleted something, added new details. Let's concentrate on the details!

♡ About the dress: It consists of 3 parts the dress itself (made of suede), sleeves (lace) and sharp as knives shoulders (suede and EVA). The dress with sleeves is created by my gorgeous seamstress - it took many hours of her work to reach the result I wanted. It doesn't visible on pics, but the costume has a deep cutout at back - not a very simple construstion when item has another cutout in front. Also the nude lace was used under boobs to hold my chest  (I deleted it on pics, cause it's technocal detail). Sleeves are like long-long gloves, which ends with black claws. In Glenn Close looks these feature was used almost in all, and since my Black Cat look - claws above gloves became my personal love! With shoulders I struggled a lot - at first, I didn't manage to understand how to make them. After hours and hours of tries, I realized that the method of direct gluing suede to EVA-form didn't work for many reasons. So I did the next: I got the right shape of shoulders with tracing paper (only this month I got very cheap mannequin with almost my sized to hang cosplays on it - it helped me a lot, can't imagine if I do Cruella without it), transefer the form to EVA, cut it out, made a metal carcass with wire, glued it on. Then I sewed the "covers" for my EVA - it was hard for me, because I never did such thing plus my sewing machine was shocked in the end, when I needed to sew 4 layers of suede and 2 EVA. At the result - I got the sharp wild shoulders which could be any form I bent them. They are attached to the dress with velcro. Last but not least part is decorating the whole costume with gems. I counted I used about 30 metres of thinestone lines - it took me about 5-6 hours to finish. 

♡ About the accessories: this collar - OMG - is what I want to wear every day! It's almost a copy of the necklace Glenn wore. For it I used black and white pearl beads (10 mm and 4 mm), silicone thread, EVA-foam (5mm 70), primer, black and white aerosol paint, Crystal Glue, magnetic clasp and white teardrop beads. I colored 23 EVA sticks in black and white and mixed them with beads in right subsequence. Half teardrop beads needed to be colored black and was attached with clear thread to EVA from backside. Bracelets were made in same technology, but I used 8 mm beads. Fur scarf not as simple as it looks like - it's inspired by 2 of Glenn Close ones. I used black fur, dalmatian (can't believe I found it, didn't now that it really exists!) and red velvet. The lengh of it is 3 metres - it means that I used 3 metres of dalmatian and 6 metres of black - no animal were harmed while I do it (I swear). The cigarette holder was colored in red - very cool accent in look - in harmony with scarf, lipstick and shoue sole (grab the Elizabeth's shoes from Burial at Sea - sorry, giiiirl). Thanks to God I already had the belt (thanks to Vampira), which almost copy one belt from 101 Dalmatians! I'm always happy when I find out that I already have some things which suits my new cosplays!

♡ About wig: I got this wig 2 years ago. I like my hair be parted not it center- so I did it in my Cruella look. The style was chosen before I started it - Hollywood wave - who know that know XD I suffered with it for two days - I just can't do it right, plus I cut it two times to get that effect. Also this wig got 2 problems: white part had black tresses underneath (I colored them white with simple acrilyc paint) and the lace part was very thin (about 5 mm) - I did an extra gluing on divided part. Most of all I love how white strang of hair pop on black part!

That's all! It's a bit fluent review and story of how this look was created! I would tell something new today in my Instagram stories!

♡ About retouch: til the end of month I will send you "Yennefer (costume)" set from August plus Lenore (lingerie) set. Again please accept my apologies for this wait. I'm thinking of work with retoucher, hope it will make the process quicker! And hope I will recover soon to start making everything in intensive mode.
