Captain slow.

Apparently, I'm starting to create some rumors among models, saying I'm slow and awkward to work with, because of my critical manual focusing technique.
Things got even worse when I started using the GFX medium format camera, that require even more precision.
But I also noticed this is happening more with younger models.
Improvements in continuous autofocus tracking of the subject introduced by Sony as a state of the are solution for the laziest photographers, are gaining ground in the field, and giving the false impression to upcoming models that is the only way to work.

Dovile, possibly because coming from an older generation of models, was more comfortable to work with me at my pace, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to find new models patient or humble enough to be guided by the photographer.
They are used to storm inside the studio, and moving non stop whilst the flashes are firing away.
On the other hand I have no intention of changing the style I've been developing in years to accommodate for the attention span of younger models, and I have no intention of giving up on the peaceful quality I'm getting on the medium format sensor (like in today's photo)!

I guess when I find suitable models I will have to stick with them as much as possible!
Possibly searching new ones among photographers that are using film, so that they might have successfully trained the models to work the old way.
Maybe that is one of the reasons Barbora made such a good impression on me, even if she is only 24 YO, you can clearly see she has worked with talented photographers, and is capable of adapting to the needs of every one, also the slowest ones like myself.
If we go on like this, I will have to start searching for suitable models in nursing homes...
Or hope my eyesight gets worse and force me to embrace autofocus.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing... And actually, many are drawing from photos, many also from my own photos.

Don’t change your style or technique, the results are always amazing!

You have put in the work to learn your art so thoroughly; it is a pity some models do not want to do the same for theirs. I guess a painter working from life is virtually an impossibility now.
