The British of that time were much more formal about romantic matters. They kissed, they married, what more do you need? It was fun watching you second guessing the story. For a comedic performance by Katharine: "Bringing up Baby" (1938) with Cary Grant or "The Philadelphia Story" (1940) with Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant. Side note: Katharine holds the record for most Oscar wins (4) by an actress. By the way, technicolor has been around in one version or another since the 1930s.
