"Houston, we've had a problem."

My 2013 MacBook Pro is not charging any more, and I have numerous shootings stuck in there for the final retouching stage, my preferred ones, that were pushed on top of the pile.
I've ordered a new charger to see if that could solve the problem and save the day.
If that is not enough, I can try to have it repaired by an Apple Store, but it is such an old model that it might be beyond repair, or I might lose the files inside during the process...

Nothing is ever going to be lost anyway, because I still have most of these folders saved elsewhere in previous stages of retouching, and I can always extract from the older version of Lightroom the missing ones, if I really need to do it, but this is going to be a time consuming process.
So I will try my best to save the old computer before trying anything else.
In the mean time, I will post the older photos from the Archives, or the newest photos from the latest sets still in Lightroom.

Apparently I was relying too much on my 2013 Mac, an old friend that never betrayed me before, but machines are not infallible and I should not have given up backing up this specific unit even if I was using it only to run the cracked version on Photoshop.
I was finally considering letting go on this older Mac, as I'm now retouching the files directly inside Lightroom, and I just needed to run out the folders initiated with the older workflow, but I didn't made it on time.
This is teaching me a lesson: however careful you can be in the preservation of your data, you can always overlook some details that can come and bite you in the ass later on.

Fortunately nothing is really lost, and I still have plenty to show you from other sources while I try to fix the problem.

A professional approach is paramount in every craft, also in modeling, and this photo of Hilary C. is a good example.
If you look at her in a superficial way, you see a nice body and a pretty face but, if you look closer, you can feel the effort in that face, and the tension in every single muscle to give the body a perfect arch.
And the effort to maintain such a perfect body after a certain age requires also an awful lot of gym time.
We should be very grateful to these models for everything they are doing to bring us beauty, because if in the first years this could be attributed to a lucky combination of natural causes, as the age increases it is going to become the result of huge conscious efforts from the model, the reflection of a strong will to keep this beauty alive for as long as possible.
And Hilary is doing a fine job of that!!!

Gotcha. Glad to hear that. Still sucks about the MBP though.

I have more or less at least 4 copies of every phase of the process on external hard drives. 1) The original RAW files. 2) The RAW files inside Lightroom with all the editing instructions applied. 3) The final JPEG files extracted from Lightroom that are still getting retouched. 4) The finished JPEG files completely retouched and safely stored in the archives. Only phase 3) was the most dangerous one, because the folders I'm still working on are exclusively inside the 2013 Mac Book Pro, the only one still equipped with Photoshop. I also have a couple of copies of these folders (I hope all of them), albeit not updated with the last modifications, but before retrieving those and starting working on them, I will have to check if it is possible to save the old Mac, so I can resume my work from where I have left it. When I say nothing is lost is because phases 1) and 2) are always safe, and I can restart from there, if needed.

Sorry to hear about your computer problem; I hope you can resolve that quickly. Sadly, computer lifetimes are woefully short. Sorry - I'm having difficulty focusing on your issue when confronted with Hilary's impeccable derrière. 😊

I'm a bit confused. You just have some of your photos on the MBP or all of them? I ask because you then later say, "nothing is really lost". I am sure, with the level of photographer you are, you have your work backed up to numerous locations (such as external hard drives, the cloud, etc), and not just one device. I at least know what you have already uploaded to the "Archives" is safely stored in the cloud, right? (I'd have those backed up physically too in case that account ever gets canceled.)
