Space was limited on that kitchen top, but Martina manages to make it look comfortable nevertheless.
On Saturday, I took my older 2018 MacBook Pro to the Apple shop in order to get it fixed, and the battery appeared to be the only problem with it.
For the entire week, I will have to rely on the new MacBook with M3 pro chip, also to take at work, which is risky but doable.
The 2018 MacBook Pro was a disappointment, compared to the 2013 model (that I'm still using for Photoshop, by the way), because Apple designers tried to make it a posh machine, like a luxury version of the Air line, with thin profile, few ports for attachments, and the Touch Bar on top of a mediocre ultra thin keyboard.
It was a step back in many ways, compared to the 2013 model, but it served me well for one of the most intense period of my life (for computer usage).
The new 2024 MacBook Pro is a very different beast, thick, powerful, fast, purposeful, with all the connection needed by a professional tool, and I love it already, it gives much more confidence in being capable of working hard and for a long time.
It is a giant leap forward, with this M3Pro chip instead of the older Intel unit, and working on my pictures is an easy task.
Still, I will be happy to have the 2018 back with the new battery, to do the hard jobs in the worst conditions, like going to work with it, with the risk of dropping it...
We need these good and reliable old friends, even if they are full of flaws, like my 2008 Harley Davidson XL 1200 Sportster, a poor bike from a technical point of view, but one I learned to love by using it.
In these days I'm also doing some mods to upgrade the load capacity of this bike, to adapt it to my current needs, because from September my older Kawasaki W650 will not be allowed any more in the B area of Milano, and I will have to use the Harley instead.
I rarely get rid of old things I have, and usually I'm proved right: our older friends can always become very useful again in our life, you just have to rely on them and they will still serve you well!
