I have to agree. Am a touch disappointed as an Irish person, I'd hope Zach would be a little more forthcoming as a fellow Irish

2025-08-23 23:09:41 +0000 UTCI’m going to have to push back on the what was said the is episode about celebrities and politics. I don’t know why Zach and Madeline have such an aversion to saying Palestine. It’s dehumanising and insulting saying ‘the other thing.’ It’s a genocide being carried on right now. A man made famine has been declared today. A ‘failure of humanity.’ Are we not human? Are we not allowed to be upset by it when our own governments and tax money are responsible. We have responsibility to say and do something and I just find it so insulting the way it was talked about. You have the issues you care about because they directly impact YOU and the people you care about. And ‘the other thing’ is not directly impacting you so it’s not as important? You guys talk about the intersection of politics and art ALL THE TIME. But this one subject seems to a step too far. Say it with your whole chest or ignore it. Don’t dismiss it. Especially so ignorantly. We are finding out new things EVERY DAY about the depth of horror that is being experienced by people right now. Their only crimes are the colour of their skins and the geography of their birth. We are so privileged to be where we are and not be a victim of circumstance. Lastly, celebrities, politicians, artists, journalists have been manufacturing consent for Israel since 1948. There has been a slow but steady pushback against this since Oct 2023 and I live in England and saw the way the conversation changed after all the artists took a stand at Glastonbury. Palestinians in Palestine and the diaspora have made clear they want awareness and support. They are clear eyed and deliberate about broadcasting their own genocide and suffering because they think it is the only thing that will help change the situation. If they are saying words as well as money and deeds is helpful, who the hell are we to decide what we deem right or not?
