Discussion Post : The Looming Threat of TS12

In the beginning, there was the Fall release.

Album after album, from debut all the way up through Reputation, Taylor was dedicated to releasing in October or November, every single time, without fail - even when it came time for Reputation, which, at the time, was an aberration because of how long it took for it to come out.

Then, Taylor changed labels, and released her very first ever Summer album - LOVER - and it was never, ever the same again. Midnights is the closest she's ever come to her good old fashioned Fall release, but it wasn't quite the same. No pre-release single, barely any information about it, etc etc.

One might think that an album release almost always happening in those two months and typically always in the same way would get old, but actually, on the contrary - it gave us structure, and it made it so we could speak with the utmost confidence about when a new release might be coming. Ever since Lover, there is absolutely no confidence about when Taylor might be releasing.

There is only the humble rumor. A rumor which we have...but whether we have the rumor or not, it is still merely just a rumor, and rumors mean speculation, and if there's one thing we like to do and that we do well, it is SPECULATING WILDLY!!!!!

So with only a rumor in hand, I offer you all my perfect dream scenario for a classic, old school Fall release from Taylor Swift and also ask for you all to share yours with the class in the comments so we can all speculate together with no information whatsoever at all.

In MY vision.........

Taylor announces in early September - yes, early enough that Zack and I get the privilege of getting to talk about it while we're on tour in either Dublin or London! New information dropping while we're on tour and can talk to other people about it is thrilling and makes us feel like we're kinda teenagers going crazy on tumblr with everyone else, just like the good old days. I don't think that she would use the VMA's for an announcement again, but, well, it IS right there....at a most convenient time. Remember she's not nominated for anything that night - so in my mind they do a "special announcement from Taylor Swift" that includes a video of some kind - be it a music video with the new song or otherwise! AND after the show, Taylor posts the cover and title of the new album on Instagram and the new song will be out at midnight. PERFECTO!!!!!!!

I have to admit I do really appreciate the art of an album with no single. I like being totally gagged by receiving it all at once! BUT......something about this era (which doesn't exist yet outside of my hallucinations, mind you) is REALLY giving....single. I can't explain why. It's just a weird hunch. So all this is to say, I would be happy with or without a single!

As for what the album will be called, the theming, the style, even the genre : I cannot even begin to wonder about that. All of that is stuff that I don't feel the need to "clown" or "theorize" about because that's stuff I just kind of like to ride the wave with. Whatever she wants to do is cool with me. I can only guess that mayybeeee she might want to do a pop moment or country/pop. But even that, I'm not sure about.

As for release of the album...well....is it too much to ask to appease my inner-child and have a Taylor album to come out on my birthday 🥺 I've always thought the date of 10/10 would appeal to her...and it's right there...a beautiful prime Friday ripe for the picking...pleak....why not....can't a lizard have an album for a birthday treat...why shouldn't I get it....

So in my perfect fantasy : it releases on October 10th

In all probable reality : it'll be any available Friday BUT the 10th in September or October. LMFAO. But a girl can dream....

It's worth it to note I am FIRMLY in the camp that September will be when she ANNOUNCES the album and MAYBE releases a single/music video. MAYBE! If she's going to RELEASE in September, unless she's doing a surprise release (which I highly, highly doubt) then she needs to announce it SOON.

All the dates in the fall that I get a weird feeling about when I look at the calendar are as follows :

September 19th (let's all cross our fingers that doesn't happen. I'd be in New York City for Mason's first ever NYC trip and Zack would be trying to get his beach on on a much deserved vacation. I personally don't think it's a good date for a release and she normally doesn't release mid-month but....hey, you never know! Since it's an inconvenient one, with my luck, it's possible.)

September 26th (this is a date that's two days after they went public with their relationship in 2024...so....LMFAO!!!! Might be too hard for her to resist. It's also close to the old Joe anniversary on the 28th, which could honestly be more appealing to her because then she gets to erase that anniversary with a new one. Ha ha)

Honestly, ANY Friday in October looks good. The 3rd, the 10th...pleak..., the 24th, and the 31st. A Halloween release would be SO FUCKING CUUNNNNTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People associate Halloween releases with ookie or freaky, but tbh...it doesn't have to be ookie. It can just be cunt. And we'd cheer.

And last but not least, November 7th. There's something about her.....Idk....she's a wild card....

Maybe we should all collectively say October 10th is the best day for her to release so we can use our mass brain power to kind of Charles Xavier mind control her into doing exactly that...idk...just a suggestion....🤓 🎃
