The Math Behind Archemi...

For the first time, I am revealing some of the machinery behind the curtain: the math and formulae that go into the making of a LitRPG.

LitRPG is a challenging genre to write, not least because it involves keeping track of a whole lot of numbers. So, if you were ever curious how the sausage is made, here you go (right click and open in a new tab to see it full-size):

And yes: the Archemipedia is finally coming to life! Now that I'm nearly a million words into Archemi - tits deep, you might say - my poor old Excel workbook has given up the ghost. I desperately needed something more accessible that was easier to read and update, as well as capable of managing things like ability descriptions, skills, and items. My chosen solution was World Anvil. Much of what is going on there at this stage - Stat Tables, EXP charts, Item Lists - is set to private. However, there are already some publicly accessible pages as well. My goal is to get all of the LitRPG administration/organization done before really plugging into Spear of Destiny.

The four main hero profiles are already up. I'm looking into commissioning good quality maps which can be loaded in and made interactive, with pins and tooltips highlighting places of interest. I have a placeholder map of Artana in place, but am working on a full-sized watercolor and ink map as well.

Spear of Destiny is coming along, but I kept running into difficulties with keeping track of information. My spreadsheets and all my notes are being consolidated now, which is going to make things go ahead MUCH more smoothly - and will serve as a base to inform an honest-to-god roleplaying system I hope to be able to offer to everyone once the series wraps up. Don't worry - we still have at least three books to go - but Archemi is such a vast world that I would love to make it available for people to RP in.
