Living dragon suit

It then fuses with the being, for a time, while it's using the energy. When the energy is used up, it reverts back to this form, however it MUST possess beings to have a normal sense of presence or moving normally at all.

Yeah, why not, I've done similar things several times before with images, asking for input on what the next step will be in whatever series it is.
