In with the old, enhancing the new!

So I've been hit by a bit of inspiration lately. It's something born of a frustration of what I've been doing and what I wanted to do. I've really enjoyed seeing my videos develop and my style refine over the past few years (from a creative point of view) and, as a creator, I'm happy about the increase in quality of the videos. I've gotten faster, increased the repertoire of avatars, implemented new techniques and ultimately have taken the videos to a place where I can be happy and satisfied, even from a place of perfectionism. That's not to say that I'm content with staying at this level, but I'm happy that I've gotten here and what's come out of my progress, especially since you guys seem to have enjoyed it as well.

In that refinement, however, it's gotten very routine, repetitive, and overall boring in the process of the video which leaves my actual creativity... dormant, for a lack of better word. I'm not making the jokes through my editing as much, I'm just letting to group make the jokes for me. That's not inherently bad, but as a creator, it left a lot to be desired out of the process which should be, well, creative.

So, in the middle of a begrudged private stream (I love doing the private streams, but the editing part was so bleh for me) I stopped for a second and started hearing "Meatball Parade" in my head. Yes, that song which essentially became a theme for NEST videos, the backdrop of one of the most iconic videos on the channel, Bismark, and one that has transcended creators within the FFXIV community (Sorry, Goldentot). Others, of course, use the song in their videos across different games and platforms, but it's one that has just been a theme of goofiness and fun for us in our own circles. I mentally hear this song and start picturing what is now the final version of that Bahamut video in my head. Now whether this is a stroke of creative inspiration or simply a stroke, I'm not quite sure yet, but what I do know is that I had an absolute blast making the video.

This got me thinking about what I could do to give the channel a bit of an overhaul. Nothing dramatic, but something that revisited our old meme-y style along with some of the newer editing techniques I've picked up over the years. That's right, I always keep trying to learn how to be better, watch other creators, add to my list of inspiration, and I encourage you all who are in the field to do the same. In any case, that's what's keeping me going now and what I hope will shine in this next video: Sigmascape - Normal Mode. I've already released the director's cut, but I'm gonna be getting to work on finishing it up for the rest of you in the next couple days. I should really get back to work on that instead of this post... but I've been really excited and wanted to share with you all.

tl dr - I got bored with my editing style so I'm incorporating old, fun methods with my newer editing techniques to make videos that I enjoy creating and you can enjoy watching more than ever.

Sometimes inspiration causes you to grow both as a creator and person, this definitely seems like it is doing both. Keep up the good work! :D
