First of all, I REALLY liked this first episode, but I was thinking that the difference in style could've been intentional since the focus of it is on a different character and part/side of Gotham. I mean, there's more humor 'cause that's the character. He's ruthless, but he is funny. I saw "The Batman" once in the theater, so I don't have all the style of cinematography or music fresh in my mind like you guys. I remembered all the key points, especially the ones mentioned here, so I don't feel I missed anything and most of these characters we see are introduced here and not necessarily shown in the movie. I did NOT remember, like you guys, that the news people were the same. 😁 But, it being a while since I'd seen it kept me from comparing the show to the movie and I just thought of it as a continuation of the story. One thing that Hector said earlier in the episode that Oswald is stupid and I said that that's what the show is trying to show you, that he isn't stupid and that his biggest advantage is that everyone tends to underestimate him. I mean, I totally didn't expect that ending and had no idea how he was gonna get outta that predicament with Sofia, but that was beautiful.
