Aliens Uncut Commentary!

Ripley is the best! It was great to watch it with you and I would love to watch the sequels again too.

Just found out that Vasquez is also John Connors foster mom in T2.

Chris Watkins

I'm on board to complete the Alien series. I've never seen the sequels after Aliens

For me Alien is my favourite horror movie of all time while Aliens is my favourite action movie. I also agree with Hector that Romulus has become my 3rd favourite of these movies. When it comes to Ripley's kid the extended cut does give some details about her and it annoys me they cut the scene because it adds a lot to Ripley's motivation with Newt as well as explains why her paternal instincts are so good with her. Oh the troop carrier car they used too was real. They built it around an airplane towing tractor, basically the tow truck that helps pull a plane out of a hangar.

Hector - Ellen Ripley daughter's story was mentioned in a deleted scene between Ripley and Burke. He tells her what happened to her and showed a photo (which is a photo of her real-life mother). You can see it in the Special Edition and the scene was included in the book, which I read every year for a decade lol. Guys - I saw Aliens when it hit VHS because I wasn't allowed to see it in the theatre (since I was 10 at the time). It had become one of my favorite movies in 1987 (because back then video releases were 9 months to 3 years after being released in the theatre). So, I knew after watching this movie, James Cameron loved working with the same actors and using the same motifs. They discussed it during the Special Edition commentary. The actors playing the marines do go into that each of them had a backstory they created during rehearsals for themselves. Plus each actor got to customize their armor to reflect their character's personality. A little nerd trivia: The actor Carrie Henn (Newt) and her real-life brother played Timmy (Newt's brother) in their scenes set before Burke convinces Ripley to come back to LV-4221. It shows what happened to Newt's parents too which was a callback to the first movie. Carrie Henn was also a military kid living in England, where she was auditioned. It also explains why at times she has a British accent. Plus the in the commetary Gale Ann Hurd talks about how the union laws were in 1985 England, which would answer your pondering question about Jeanette Goldstein being casted as Vasquez. I would highly suggest watching it again with the Special Edition Commentary on because I found it very fascinating. James Cameron, Gale Ann Hurd, Stan Winston, Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, Jeanette Goldstein, Lance Henriksen, and Carrie Henn. Loved the watch along you did. Keep up the great work, homies!

I agree about Paul Reiser when I watched Stranger Things. I believe that's why they casted him to have that twist of you weren't sure what side of the fence he's really on.

FYI: This is the theatrical cut, which is available on the MAX app. I think it is on Hulu too, but I just have the lower tiered subscription through my cell phone plan so I have to deal with the commercial breaks. Paul Reiser's casting in Stranger Things made me question his motives because of this movie. Obviously Cameron has a thing for water... I mean all the water in this, The Abyss, Titanic, all those trips down to the ocean floor, Avatar... Oh we have VHS movies back then, but we only had 4:3 480p and maybe 2 channel stereo at best. There was a comic book series that went in a different direction than what Alien 3 did when it came out. I like Alien 3, but do not like it as a continuation of this movie... and I will not say any more as I don't want to spoil anything.

I only have the extended edition. Which is the better edition.
