Rhodey mentioned it a little too quickly and if he and Nick were like minded in a tactical sense he wouldn't need an explanation as to why that would be a horrible idea lol.

It sure looked like Fury would have taken him under his wing from that scene he was introduced in and it would explain why he wants to hurt Nick so badly.

I'm still not sure whether the last scene is a "lie to me" moment, where Nick and the woman consent to her taking the form of his original human partner, or she was always skrull but chose to keep that form to make things easier between him. My only wish was that the butcher shop scene was less explicit. I don't expect or need that in my Marvel shows.
