House of the Dragon 1x4 Uncut Reaction!

Comments

I waited until I could binge your views of House of the Dragon to jump in. It is the first series I've seen prior to watching with the group. It has been weird watching you (pl) not know stuff, because that has been one of the reasons I've watched along with you because you are filling in the gaps that I don't know. I'm enjoying the re-watch and am looking forward to the next episodes. Hope the Visions 2 watch along is coming soon.

Put it on my tombstone.

At the end, Rhaenyra wasn't second guessing on drinking the tea, she was upset that her father didn't believe her. Also food for thought, we all know incest is appalling, but the Targaryens have been known to marry in the family to keep their blood line pure. all of the other houses, and common folk look down on it, as they should.

THANK YOU BOYS FOR STICKING WITH IT!!! more of your questions should be answered in the near upcoming episodes. again, thank yall SOOOO MUCH for watching this show. its one of my faves, and all iʻll say is strap in because from here on out, things are about to get CRAZY.

Don't want to speculate on Daemon's motivations because I can't remember if it gets fleshed out more as the season progresses. However, I think it's important to know that the Targaryen family has a legacy of incest. Aegon the Conqueror, their ancestor, married his two sisters after becoming the first king of Westeros. Daemon's actions are gross and chaotic from an outside perspective, and to the rest of Westeros at large, but within the Targaryen family there is precedent for such incestuous behavior and is thought of as being rather acceptable.

The show hasn’t revealed Daemons wife yet, she remains in the Vale. The lady we’ve been seeing was Daemons “whore”, they were never married and she was never pregnant

I was getting slightly frustrated when they would talk over key dialogue but now I’m just enjoying the ride and, yeah, I also figure they’ll catch up on it eventually.

Not killing his brother is perfectly sensible. There is no hard or soft evidence of anything and King Viserys would merely be labeled a kinslayer, which to modern audiences means nothing but is a crime in this show before not just the laws of men but of the gods. Plus such a drastic realm destabilizing decision would do nothing good, in the short or long term. It's unfortunate that they talked over point 1 in Episode 2 about the Hightower's plot to get Aegon named heir and didn't connect the dots in Episode 3 with Otto pushing Queen Alicent to get the king to change his mind after the hunt. At some point they'll pick up that thread though, as it gets more blatant as time goes on. :P The Daemon suspicion is really funny though and pinning everything on him is a mistake many a reactor has made, as so many fall into the trap of thinking there is just a singular "protagonist" and "antagonist". It's a bit unfortunate that the guys don't know more about the ASOIF universe, as it'd help them get past some traditions that are unique to it.

You're right, the king does feel out of place. He is out of place. His cousin Rhaenys should have been named Queen but sadly the era depicted is even more sexist than now.

I love the amount of anger towards the King and it’s warranted for the most part but I do feel bad for the guy. His ambition killed his wife, he is continuous pulled from every side by people who all have their own interests. He loves his family for what it is worth, so him not killing his brother is weak but also understandable for the type of king he is.

Daemon was not referring to that lady when he said Bronze whatever. Daemon is married through family bull crap to a power house. Daemon never liked the person he was forced to marry hence why he despises her and calls her the bronze lady. And Daemon and the other lady were never married, it was said to be married but she ran away after Daemon stole the egg and lied to her.

Oh boy, here we go! Been eager to see how you guys respond to this one, haha.
