The Mandalorian 3x6 Uncut Reaction!

What's up, homies! We're excited to react to Bryce Dallas Howard's episode of The Mandalorian this week. We had a really fun time with this episode and all of its cameos. Plus, the ending rocked!

This episode was magnificent one of my faves for sure, technicalities work haha

It's really weird the extent to which people these days, or at least people online, seem to think the only value in stories is the major plot beats. Between Marvel and Star Wars, people think if it isn't an Avengers-level movie or a big epic finale it's "filler." Super weird trend that shows a fundamental misunderstanding of storytelling imo. As people have said regarding Infinity War?Endgame: we wouldn't care about the big stuff if not for the 10 years of littler stuff that came before. Now people can barely sit through 8 episodes of TV.

The thing about side quests: their purpose is to flesh out the world being inhabited by the characters. Sometimes, that occurs by introducing a race or species not seen before (ptero-hell-no steals the youngling) or it gives insight into how the characters think when interacting with the other beings (the Ugnauts or the droids at the bar). Ultimately, side-quests make the world/universe feel that much more lived-in and tend to make for some fun content and, obliquely, move the story forward. .

This episode had it all. It furthered the overarching story while being a great episodic outing. It had stunning vistas and sets. Like you said, it was more expansive than what we saw in the first two seasons. I forgot what was practical, the Volume, or CG. It felt like a fun Scooby Doo adventure! “It was Commissioner Helgait all along!” “And I would’ve gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for these pesky Mandalorians!”

My dudes. Someone made a Czechxicans flag on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/comments/12hv5ka/the_flag_of_czexico/

Mandalorian She Wrote (well directed anyway) - Loved the reaction and episode and I've heard that the actor in the droid autopsy scene is from the LA Improv/comic scene (so that might be where Hector recognised them from) - was aiming for helpful not know-it-all-ey - I hope it worked 😊

I did not expect a buddy cop episode in Star Wars, but I loved that we got one. Jack Black and Lizzo were great, this was awesome!

Loved your reaction! I wish you'd engage with criticism less.

Thanks! 😊

This episode was great. We're seeing a relationship building between Din and Bo-Katan. We got a fun adventure story. And we got development in the ongoing story. Adam, I loved your point about how people would sit through a 20+ episode season just fine but now suddenly can't handle not having the resolution of the finale in the first episode of an 8-epiosde season. Like, what the hell? Yeah maybe something was introduced but not resolved in the same episode. That's not bad storytelling. Unless the writers didn't introduce it without coming up with the resolution, that's shite storytelling right there, but as this show hasn't been doing that, maybe just enjoy the ride each week. Or, as Hector said, just stop watching. (Though I do kind of agree with complaints about Grogu and Din being reunited in a different show, but not to the same level of vitriolic toxicity that many are expressing it with.) Lastly, did you guys make those shirts? Hot dang I love them! I'd love to see BDH get to direct a Star Wars film. (Watch that was already announced this weekend and I'm just so out-of-touch I missed it. Ha ha 🤣!)

Christopher Lloyd IS the Man-Delorian.

I missed this so much last week. As someone who had just graduated from high school when A New Hope was released in movie theaters, I come from the part of the fandom that had lived with the echo of the '50s into the '60s when times (and most stories) were simpler. We understood what George Lucas was portraying, a serial western in space the whole family could enjoy. Good overcame evil. I'm a patron because I love the appreciation for the work and the knowledge I'm not interested in researching myself. The guys fill in all the blanks for me and they understand where I view the content of the episodes from. I enjoyed Lizzo and Jack Black more than Christopher Lloyd only because the script didn't feel like they gave his character much subtlety. That's just me though. Loved the action, loved watching Lizzo mother Grogu. LOVED Katee Sackhoff. She's always been one kick-ass character and Din was right; she did rescue him so technically the saber is hers. Din never gave anyone the impression he was all about ruling Mandalore, nor did he even take the time to work with the sword in a way that would make it his. I'm glad to hear Agustin was able to take some time off to celebrate his birthday, especially hearing Eric Voss speak on a live stream about how much time and energy goes into producing content for YouTube (and I hope you had a magnificent birthday Agustin!). Can't wait to see all three of you together again next week. 😊

People who don't understand good storytelling will say that these side quests are unnecessary, but in actuality they are super important. The reason we got to the finale of Season 2 and it broke us when Din said goodbye to Grogu was because of all the adventures they went on before that, they are trying to develop a relationship between Din and Bo-Katan, and you do that by putting them through the ringer in different ways. Bo learns that Din is very good at picking up on other cultures and has a way of diplomacy that is useful. She also learns that he hates the crap out of droids and can get heated. It's all set up for what comes later on and if you don't think its important than you are a sucker and don't know what good stories are made of.

I loved this episode. I was smiling ear to ear the whole time. I go onto twitter after and am legit shocked at all the hate. Then over to IMDB and it's being 1 star review bombed. Think I'm done checking the hashtag after viewing, I know all the places to go to listen to genuine people talk about a universe I love!

I really enjoyed this episode. It was so much fun to watch. The guest stars were great - seeing Lizzo and Grogu interacting was precious. I liked the interplay between Bo-Katan and Din when conducting the investigation, and the scene in the droid bar was wonderful. Some cool action throughout, focusing on Mandalorian fight tactics, etc. And, the ending with Bo-Katan left me very excited for more. Everything I enjoy about Star Wars.

That's better.

Great commentary on this week's episode. I loved this episode because it was so different by blending a lot of different types of troupes. This episode had so many cameos throughout it. Even the young Mon Calamari Nobleman is voiced by Tom Holland's brother, Harry Holland. Matthew Wood and Catherine Taber (Padme from the Clone Wars) provided voice over cameos as well. I had to giggle when Adam was wondering who's next when we got to the Droid Bar. The Droid Bartender was voiced by Seth Gabel who was in Fringe and Salem, whom I love his work on those shows. Plus, he's Bryce Dallas Howard's husband. BDH episodes are my favorite and a highlight with every season of the Disney + Star Wars series. Keep up the positive vibes and showing how much you are enjoying the episodes. Love ya, Homies.
