Not as long as you think. The new xmen team starts with giant size xmen 1 then goes to xmen 94. If you dont want that set up, start with issue 98 which takes place right before what is episode 3 of this season. Jean becomes phoenix in issue 101. Thats 4 issues or 9 if you start from the beginning of the all new all different xmen. Then that goes to 108, 109-124 is all regular x stuff just jean is using the new code name of pboenix but they are on earth so can skip that. 125-137 is setup for and the complete dark phoenix saga. If you ONLY want phoenix, its 21 issues. If i can read every xmen related comic from 1963 to present (including all the mini series, xtitles, one shots etc) you can do 20+ though i would suggest all the claremont stuff. Xmen is so good. Best comic series. Just read and dont game or party for a while. Those games will be there when you are done. I believe in you hector
