I think all three of you should watch this episode again on your own time alone. There was definitely some dialogue throughout the episode that you guys missed. I know that is the hard thing with reactions.

One thing I noticed but I'm not sure about because I missed her last name, but I think Nori's friend, Poppy, lost her whole family because she's always alone except when she's with Nori and when Sadoc was naming all those people that had the same last name (about 4 or 5 of them), they focused on Poppy and she was crying. She was also pulling her cart alone and dropped back to check on the Brandyfoots 'cause, sure Nori's her best friend, but also they're the closest thing to a family she has now, I think.

I am not sure which I look forward to the most - the episodes or syncing up and watching them with you guys! I learn and understand so much more. I have always loved tolkein and all the previous movies, but have never really dug into the lore. Im loving that Agustin has.

You guys really cracked us up jumping on Hector about sailing. Ha ha, love the friendly ribbing while geeking out together. And Agustine, Hector is right about don't feel pressure to know all the details right in the moment. Enjoy the show too. Also, as someone who only kind of started to read the Silmarilion (long story) yes we do appreciate you sharing your knowledge.

I am super enjoying this, and glad that they are addressing Numeror and the classism that was present in the original Lord of the Rings, and dealing with it in a great way. This series has so much love for the Lord of the Rings and I am here for it

This episode was great! Numenor looks amazing, and I'm loving the actor portraying Elendil, who is a REALLY BIG DEAL YOU GUYS!!! I couldn't believe Augustin wasn't freaking out more about him. I mean, he's only the guy from whom Aragorn is descended! I'm interested who Adar is, but while I initially assumed he's Sauron, after some consideration I think it's far too early for Sauron to appear in the series. I think just like Meteorite Jesus is not Gandalf, this Adar is also a misdirect and he's possibly someone who's trying to set himself up as Morgoth's successor. I think there's a really good chance the thing the orcs are looking for is that broken sword that kid has from episode 2, and anyone using that blade would wield some seriously dark magic.

Man, Kraackin, you are a great example of how not to be around here. And you don't deserve this reply but others might find it useful: Tolkien wrote very little about the Second Age, however the producers are obligated to respect as canon what he did write by the terms of their deal with the Tolkien estate. But what that means is there's tons of places for them to fill in the gaps, and so while the show may feature characters we recognize, there is no other "source material" for the writers to follow.

Who cares how many times Galadriel smiles. I never took that character for a smiley person.

Hey Agustín! Is there a chance that halbrand is in fact Sauron? Cause he said to galadriel that he's been tried to bring peace more time that she can imagine and he says that he is the best blacksmith of the island...a reference to the rings maker.(I read it somewhere)

Alright, that episode got me hooked. Also, I was very happy to learn the actor playing Galadriel is the star of Saint Maud one of my favourite horror films of the last few years.

Truer words have never been said. Heroes Reforged take my damn money already for his poetry book!
Btw Agustin, love watching you nerd out!! I was so excited to see your reaction when I watched the episode last night.

Sure. You also have to keep in mind that this show isn't necessarily just for established LOTR fans. It also has to world build enough for people who are not well versed in the lore *cough Adam cough* to undertand what's happening.

I think, just like with most of the shows we watch, including Marvel, they can take upwards of 3 episodes to introduce all of the main players and locations before we start tackling the root of the story. Again, since they're not movies, it automatically gives them more time to breathe.

There is nothing wrong if you don’t love it, your opinion is valid and matters. I hope it gets better so you can enjoy it more.
The important thing here is not to give it hate because of the race of the actors or just because you are too protective of the source material, we just want to have a good time!

S E, did you mean this comment for me or for Hector, Adam, and Agustin?
If for me, here's my order: Nori/Poppy & the Stranger; Arondir/Bronwyn/Theo; and Galadriel/Halbrand.
But Durin is the best character, obvs. ;)

If meteor man ISN'T Gandalf I'm trowing all that I have into Mount Doom. I know he appears on the books on the third age and bla bla bla, BUT, he also DIED and was sendo BACK by the Vallar. Who can't say he was send into the second age, died BEFORE the final alliance of elfs and man, and then is send AGAIN in the third age? That would explain why he's the only one who knows where the shire is. The blue mages fuc* off for a reason. Their mission was in the EAST, presumily recruting mans of the east to fight Sauron. Since Tolkin was british and wrote The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings in the 1950's, it would make sense he would think that anything east of europe is misterious.

Outside of Elrond and Durin what particular part of the story is most memorable or most engaging for you. Just curious

I dont know. I really liked the second episode because it felt personal and real. I was optimistic. I love the way this looks and there are some characters I find interesting but for me the script is lacking. Some of the dialogue just feels unnecessary? Or it doesn't advance anything? Idk. Also the pacing is weird. I dont feel like its building to anything. If they want to go slow they should take an episode or two to focus on just a few characters or one area. I really want to see more of the dwarf kingdoms or something. I think I will probably binge these later. I already have a couple of series to follow with you guys!

I am absolutely enjoying this series. It is beautiful - the craftsmanship in the world, the costumes, the props, the music, etc. is just top-notch. I am really enjoying the characters and the story being told. I am very invested in these folks - the harfoots and the stranger, Galadriel and Halbrand, Arondir and Bronwyn, Disa and Durin - I am really enjoying watching all these stories slowly build and gradually converge. It feels luxurious as it plays out, and I want all of these great characters to succeed.

I know you guys want to be positive and I have a lot of respect for the production of this show, which is beautiful, but after about 3 hours the thing I care the most about is that it's beautiful... And the world building is good. Watching your reaction is cool though, you get excited about the little things.
But I feel like the writing is not quite there. I can rationally justify the plot points, but I just don't feel many of them, because the show hasn't built enough emotional connection to the characters. It's a shame, I really wanted to love it. But the writing did not get me invested yet. A lot of world building, not a lot of storytelling. Maybe it's just me, but it's been about the time of a full movie, and it still feels like the show is setting up stuff. Still going to watch to the end though, I care enough about LOTR to watch a show I just kinda like.

Thank you for getting this reaction up so quickly. I watched it as soon as I woke up this AM, then came here to re-watch with you guys. As a Shakespeare scholar who knows academic/scholarly rabbit holes first hand, connecting this series to the movies or even the source material is the cherry on the sundae. It's just such a GOOD STORY, period, with such beautiful cinematography and poignant acting and high stakes between good and evil and the misty gray area between, that I'm just interested in seeing where the series goes and what they do next. Thanks for providing a space where we can celebrate what's spectacular or just good rather than picking an elaborate work of art to shreds!
