Ms. Marvel 1x5 Uncut Reaction!

PENULTIMATE! It's hard to believe that we're already this close to the season finale of Ms. Marvel. At the end of the previous episode, we're left with Kamala seemingly time traveling back several decades to the partition of India, where she may or may not interact with her great grandmother Aisha.

Queue up your Disney+ and join us for this penultimate episode.

This might be taking the top spot on my favorite Disney + Marvel show... and I am sad there is only one episode left for us to spend time with Kamala and her family.

I think they went from being the clean up government agency to being the ones to enforce the Sokovia Accords and going after unregistered powered people and locking them up... probably leaning towards them creating their own team of "heroes" like the Thunderbolts or Freedom Force.

this ep had so many good reveals and they did a great job creating the chaotic feeling of partition in just a few scenes. but I laughed hardest when Muneeba sussed out Red Dagger. Kamala has super powers but who cares - because *who is that boy*?

My gawd I'm so here for a group rewatch of LOTR trilogy! Yes please!!!

Man this story is so beautifully told, and such a great family story about healing generational trauma and understanding, and so cool how they have taken time to go back and tell this whole story. Makes me want to read and understand the history of this period.

Marvel: "So we're going to essentially introduce you in episode 5 of a 6-episode season when we suddenly pull the audience away from every character and plot-line they've been following so far in the show to drop them into a period-piece. You'll have about half an episode (the shortest episode of the season) to establish your characters and make everyone completely invested in their romance and family as you go all the way from their first meeting through becoming parents and on to one of you dying. Screw it up and it will undermine or even ruin the entire emotional arc of the series." Mehwish Hayat and Fawad Khan: "Bet."

I was misty eyed throughout the whole train scene. 🥲

Marvel's universal familial feels seems to be working extra hard in this series. I hope they continue it with there big screen movies as well.

So much about this episode was just.... Wholesome. The things I learned about Pakistan were plenty and has given me a jumping point to study India's history more. My hope is with Kamala's family being in the movie, the decision isn't made to kill one of them off. I thi l that would be a terrible disservice because the shoe's foundation is all about family.

Hector took the words right out of my mouth. 🗣"These people are TOO attractive!" 🔥

Whitney Wallace

A nice touching family moment between generations.. Adam- "Hey, do you think they were blipped?" LOL

Darryl

Oh yea! I could tell when Adam was getting watery eyes Lol. Right there with you brotha!!

The story does not feel shoe horned into the story,... but the MCU feels a little bit shoe horned into this story 😋

This episode reminded me of the film Petit Maman, the relationship between magical realism and healing family trauma, filling in gaps in the story and intergenerational bonds between women. I'm loving this story and the representation. It's been so cool to see Karachi and the inclusion of real world history into the MCU. Even though some of the multidimensional time travel stuff makes no sense to me - I don't really care because it's magic, and the most important thing is how the magic is used, the power that it brings to do good.

I’d recommend bringing chicken tikka (google pics cos it’s too delicious to describe here😋) for the season finale!!

I noticed you guys appeared to miss was how when the two ClanDestines touched the rift, the effect was very reminiscent of Terrigan Mist as previously shown in AoS. This may hint that maybe Inhuman related. One theory I have regarding the DoDC, or at least this sub-group of it, is maybe they are Kree? Here's some of my thoughts on why this might be the case: - How they are going to bring Kamala into the Marvel's hasn't been established yet, though Inhuman's seemed a likely candidate. Something Kree/Skrull related seems reasonable, especially in light of WandaVision after credits. - How did the DoDC agent know Fury wasn't on Earth? He did not seem high enough in the pecking order to have that info normally. - We don't know much of Secret Wars other than Skulls and Fury are involved, but if the Skrulls are not the bad guy, the Kree make an obvious choice.

Honestly I kind of get annoyed when people have these discussions about black panther as a superhero. I've always felt Killmonger resonated more with black Americans than T'challa. To me it was interesting but not surprising that he was the evil archetype and destroyed in the end and T'challa was enduringly good. I think it says a lot about how generational black people may see themselves or how white people- ie the creators of the character- may see them versus how they see non-native Africans. I dont know if a wholly black American superhero would be celebrated at that level for their intelligence, compassion, skill, ingenuity, technology etc that was at the same level or maybe even surpassed the mainstream white superhero geniuses in the MCU. Somehow I dont think so. Edit: I love this series though

My question, why does DoDC have incredibly intrusive attack drones that are spying on citizens in their own homes that fires missiles into those homes... That seems like a CA:TWS levels of police state intrusion.

Athelgar

Simply loved the reaction, guys. - especially how you pointed out that family was a unique binding force of this show and for the larger MCU. Would LOVE to see the trio chow down on some classic Pakistani food for the finale. Have put some recommendations on the Discord channel: biryani, Naan, Karahi, nihari. Let's go!!
