"Sprocket" Magazine #1

So, I have a little project where each month I'm going to create a "mock" magazine with a little lore drop. Each month will feature a different character, and some that you haven't even met yet that will be showing up in the next book!

When I release this tomorrow, there will be two "articles" - an interview with Hugo about karmastry, and an astrology reading by Kazuo lol.

I had a lot of fun making this, and spent way too much time on it. I wanted it to have a 90's video game magazine feel like the ones I grew up with (and that's appropriate for the in world universe).

Originally, I was going to call the magazine "KISMET" (another word for destiny) but I found that there's a wedding magazine with that and just changed it to Sprocket at the last minute.

I'll be posting this on Monday with the articles, but I hope you enjoy the art and the behind the scenes draft work!

hah thanks dude :D <3

thanks dude! I worked really hard to give it that feel... there was just something about those magazines that's hard to describe to people who never got them... like an old Nintendo Power or something. So exciting :D it means a lot that you liked this.

hehe I LOVE epaulettes I think they're so cool. I figure in their "formal" dress academy uniforms they have epaulets and honor cords, but only for dress. I'm glad you dig them :D

That is so cool. I would love to get a magazine like this in the future. Especially when this book series does well. And here’s the debut issue Cover with Hugo ready made

im like blown away, it reminds me of the old gaming magazines we used to get in the mail, amazing theres no other word to describe it

For some reason the epaulettes just make this outfit for me, just so much extra!

Hugo: GAZE INTO THE POWER OF MY EVILLLLL EYE.

the UPC code is obviously fake lol but added for realism. I purposely let Hugo burst out of the frame, even though I know it would be cropped if it were a real magazine, but I thought it looked cool and think I'm going to carry that on in the others to have the characters breaking through the crop bleeds of the magazine cover
