342 - Monday News.

HELLO THERE dear bros. How is it going? It's Monday and that means only one thing: Monday Post from your one and only real source of news: Akabur News Network!

LOLIPOP CHAINSAW REMAKE. Personally I think that not all games were meant to be remastered, and especially not the PS3 era ones since they still look and play great. Anyway, looks like remastered version of LC will have some updated illustrations with some of the text cut. A completely understandable change, we can't have stuff like "Secret kink: likes to be told she's not fat." in a modern video game.

NEW DRAGON AGE looks absolutely modern. Can't wait to not to play it. I did beat Inquisition back in the day. The thing I remember the most from it is some woman at a tavern telling me that she comes from a tribe where all women pee standing up. (I wish I was making this up.) No wait, I also remember some gay bull dude with horns on his head trying to have sex with me. Ah... The good old PlayStation4 days.

MORTAL COMBAT. I stop playing MK after the gore got too realistic for my taste. Coincidentally that was around the time when their character designs begun to get more and more modern with every new game. Looks like they are about to release another masterpiece. Can't wait.

MORTAL COMBAT CONQUEST. Anyone remembers that game? I used to play it a lot on my PS2. Apparat from the fighting mode it also had a free-roam RPG mode where you could explore different MK realms. Battle Chess and Battle Tetris modes that you could play with friends via couch co-op. And a seemingly endless amount of goodies that you could purchase with in-game currency: concept art, music and so on. That was a good game. -_-

DEAD RISING is getting modernized as well. The graphics is getting worse while content gets removed, but that's par for the course with remasters these days.

TOMB RAIDER LEGEND (PS2). I managed to find some time to play some Tomb Raider last week. I kind of forgot how sexy Lara looked in this game. Back in the day I didn't bat an eye when I saw beautiful women in games because it was the norm. Playing it now I am constantly being taken aback by how good of a job the guys who were working on the game did.

THE WORK. And finally some news about Queen Trainer. Which I don't have that many of to be honest. Despite my best efforts I wasn't able to finish working on the sound last week, so I will continue to that today and tomorrow and after that I plan to move on to the buttons, items and other minor things while starting to send out bits of script to Lyk for editing and proofreading. That's the plan anyways.

THANK YOU for your patience guys. I realize that I am one of the very few devs out there who is striving to release finished games instead of doing incremental updates every now and then. This sort of approach has it's downsides of course, but I wouldn't have it any other way and I am really lucky to be able to do it like this, thanks to your support and patience. Thank you.

THAT IS ALL. I will see you all next Monday.

Comments

No. There are 4 different outcomes depending on your advice.

AKAMAN

hey akabur currently is the ending of the game will be the same scenario even i gave different kind of advices to jasmine?

ilaaike bubies

Proudly in my forties! Old enough to remember the good old times, young enough to expect a few more lol.

Trevor Bond

Maybe just a man, but a God in our eyes. Ok it was just a way for me to try to have more pics from the game before the release…

MrLazare

T_T

AKAMAN

Pretty much. That is why I never give any release dates, I know I would be lying because it's impossible to predict stuff like that.

AKAMAN

Yeah, they would never do that... -_-

AKAMAN

Thanks. I think what helps me to make my games special is the creative freedom I have (thanks to you guys). I mean I am just one guy, and don't need to send my character designs to some HQ for approval or tone down the jokes. This is how I usually feel playing old games when I see that the devs had fun working on them. What I am trying to say is: my games (despite their flaws) are a complete oposite of the souless corporate slop they try to feed us these days. At least I would like to believe that. Anyway, thank you for the support. QT is coming soon!

AKAMAN

Sadly I am a bit pessimistic about the whole "the industry is healing" idea. I am sure good times will come, but it will never be the same. It could be different but still good though. We will see :) Yes, STEAM has been absolutely fantastic for many years now. Naturally there were plenty of controversy and bad decisions, but even so many years later STEAM simply is better than any other alternative. Thank you for your support. It's to have creative freedom. I wish more good game devs had it -_-

AKAMAN

From the sound of it you are a bit older than me, Trevor. My first console was an 8-Bit one. It was a Chinese knock off, so I am not sure what it was. After that SEGA, than PS1, and after I saved up enough to by PS2 my life was never the same anymore ^_^ I missed PS3 completely because of some life situation I had going on at the time (for several years). During that period my PSP was my only console. (I regret ignoring Nintendo at the time). Well in any case, we should be thankful for the good stuff we used to have and the good memories we have now ^_^

AKAMAN

Yeah... This is strictly my humble opinion, but for me MK was always about B-Movie level gore that looks goofy and not too realistic. And of course I completely agree with you about escapism. I want the fictional media I consume to be believable but as far detached from reality as possible. And yes, some of the PSOne games didn't age that well, but they still have a lot of artistic merit. And some still could look quite good if you set up your emulator properly. (Or if you play them on a CRT TV).

AKAMAN

Yeah, the good old Lara will stay forever young in my heart :) You have a nice week too old friend.

AKAMAN

Yes, I agree. We were incredibly lucky and didn't realize how good we had it back at the day. We still appreciated it though, just could not imagine things could be really different in the future -_- As for trailers or any other promotional stuff, I simply have no manpower to do that. I am just one guy. Also there is really no point, because this will be a free game I don't really care about it reaching wider audiences. I already have you guys, and you have already financed this game in full.

AKAMAN

Totally agree about the news. And Men peeing sitting down (Asian style sitting) is normal too. There I have passed my wisdom

MUPLUR

You are both correct. Unfortunately... -_-

AKAMAN

I actually was one of the people who bought that game on steam when it was on early staged of development. Long time ago. I really liked what I saw, but with every year it started to change little by little. The final result is a good game but too modern for my old fashioned tastes. It's in my steam library but not in my backlog...

AKAMAN

Yes. This is a debate as old as time. In my opinion it's a cultural thing. The west censors tits, the east censors violence. To be honest I would much rather prefer the violence to be censored, or better yet, nothing at all -- let the customer decide.

AKAMAN

Soon*

AKAMAN

Indeed. But I was lucky enough to also live through the golden age, so I probably have no right to complain too much -_-

AKAMAN

To be honest I would much rather prefer you guys keep your expectation to a minimum ^_^

AKAMAN

Right. I really hope they will continue that whole pee story arc in the next game. Maybe we will get to met a man from a tribe where men pee sitting down. One can only hope. -_- I am starting to think that reading any news in general is not good for my health. T_T

AKAMAN

Bro they screew the dragon age saga, i will not buy that cra#%!$.... poor morgana...... my girl...

TheMilk

Sounds like normal game-development. That is always what happens.

SlingBang

Yeah, but also... all the REAL LIFE women in the 90s were damn hot. I'm nothing special to look at, yet all my girlfriends (in the 90's) were hot. Now half the real-world women are ugly and obese... so, the games are just reflecting what Western society has become. Luckily we still have hard-working heroes like Akaman on our side!

SlingBang

I actually misread your comment to mean: ...What we're going through today makes games like QT even more precious. What's left for us to play between now and death? -That hit too hard. So true... Luckily, I misread.

SlingBang

The closer we get to the finish line, the more unexpected events appear

Kragon

I can even think of the marketing. Choose Lewd you dirty rascal or choose Prude and make your mother proud.

Deonast

I wish they had the guts to do a "Lewd or Prude" feature with remasters, that is let us choose to see the Lewd if we want to and a few sad individuals can pick the Prude path. Sadly that won't happen as gamers can't be trusted with anything arousing (or even non ugly)

Deonast

Thank you for all of your work over the many years I've enjoyed it. While I do enjoy some incremental updates, your games work better as full releases to me as your quality and writing leaves me wanting more like a real video game used to do in the ps2/3 era. Im also glad though you kept independent as some who get the notoriety like you tend to get picked up and quality will increase at first then die off for profit. Your a true artist.

"I kind of forgot how sexy Lara looked in this game. Back in the day I didn't bat an eye when I saw beautiful women in games because it was the norm." I've had the exact same experience when re-visiting games and comics from the late 90's to around 2010. At the time, I didn't think the beautiful and busty ladies portrayed in them were anything special. You never truly appreciate something until it's gone.

Knolic

Love your weekly Monday updates! And yes, always refreshing to be reminded that while people who think like us regarding newer games (and media in general) are fed up and disgusted with it all, we're not alone! I always hold out hope that our numbers are growing, can't help but be hopeful that more and more gamers are disenfranchised by the shoddy output these "AAA" Studios ship every cycle. And I appreciate Steam for being a platform to find new indie games without having to worry I'll be rooked and out my cash if the game is trash. I attempt to support innumerable "early access" games there, however I'm just as happy to know there are developers like yourself, intent upon finishing your game before release. You keep doing you bro, we know the end result is worth the wait.

Reiknar Maelwaed

I was around for the dominance of the Atari in the 80s. I had a NES, SNES, PS1, PS2, but for some reason when the PS3 hit I had this wretched feeling about things and never committed to a system in that gen. Played games with friends on their systems, got a hand me down PS3 and played some games on it. Now I'm glad because I'd hate to be attached to all these things they're currently throwing through a grinder to remove all the stuff the prudes are morally offended by while they add needless gore and preachiness to everything. Maybe things are turning around, or maybe there's always one or two outliers, but right now indie devs like you deserve my money a LOT more than mainstream!

Trevor Bond

BG3 is a very good game even if it's a new game they have very good features

Moxence

« Can't wait to not to play it » you made my day 😄 What we're going through with video games unfortunately affects all media. I'm so glad I'm an old guy and had the chance to be a teenager in the '80s and an adult in the '90s. 👴 What we're going through today makes games like QT even more precious. What's left to do between now and release? Do you plan to share a trailer or something before the release? I have the feeling that soon(*) has never been so close…

MrLazare

"women pee standing up". It is normal. Sometimes circumstances and cultural details causes that. And reading news about game remakes is never good for health

MUPLUR

We were just talking about your game on a game site. It's got a lot waiting for it and expecting good things.

DeadMan

We truly live in the dark ages of enterntainment media

Denser173

just amazing waiting for the release for the game

Antrice

I'm glad somebody else said it. Why do we, as a society, have no problem with zooming in and crushing somebody's ankles to see the bones break and blood spurt out but then we clutch our pearls at the risk of exposed tiddies. I gave up on MK when the violence intensified at the same time that the girls put on their parkas and I look forward to giving up on the new DA. Let the creators making stuff for the non-existent modern audience get hoisted by their own petard.

Cdgolem

Awesome post. I also left MK when the gore was too much, and the gals stopped being pretty; I know some people like characters looking realistic, but heck, if they look like my neighbors, this isn't escapism anymore, it is my sad life. This month looks interesting. Many games are released at the end of the month, and hopefully, one game will do well. On Remakes, I agree, remaking a SNES or even PS1 era game have some meaning, even if most look ugly, but older gen games are playable.

Ace

I usually saw Inquisition for 4 bucks in steam... Now, this explains that. Also there is not enough r34 of the old Lara, I remember the first time I saw her in a game magazine... Have a nice week man.
