God I love the writing in this episode. This is such a turning point - a lot of the character development Luz has gone through breaks into a thousand pieces here. She and her mom already had some issues understanding each other and now she asked Luz for a promise she definitely doesn't want to make. And the show demonstrates the effect of this immediately: The very first thing Luz does after returning is to lie to King. She bottles up what's clearly bothering her and instead just tells him what she thinks he wants to hear (just like she thinks she has to do for her mother). (I am not blaming Camila for this of course - she doesn't have any knowledge of what's going on and is understandably scared)

How about that guilt trip Vee laid on Luz about leaving home?
