If you think about it, this question makes (if you allow me to say so) no sense. Your comment could be made no matter what , disregarding of her look, unless you're suggesting I should have make her look like a rainbow (one color for each body part this way people might stop being obsessed with skin colors). In the very first attempt of USA she was white and blonde. The concept wasn't called CW yet back then and I was just mixing country flags with demon slayer designs. You wanna know why her skin color changed? Simple matter of color balance and contrast. Because of the previous concept her outfit was mostly dark and blue, so I went for its complementary color (the color on the opposite side of the color wheel) to make the artwork pop-out: yellow. Didn't put much thoughts into it (as I wasn't yet into crazier designs) and picked a light skinned character to naturally matched the hair color. But once I decided to create CW and to make an entirely original concept back in 2020, getting rid of the lame Demon Slayer part (it was a good idea tho) I was free to not follow the visual identity of the manga. Which means less darker colors on the outfits. I decided to go for star shaped blue hair cause I thought it was a great starting point (I still think so) and from there (always from a perspective of simple color balance) I ended up picked a darker skin tone. No politics involved or whatever. I'm not American, I don't wanna be and tbh I couldn't care less about skin colors outside of an artistic pov. All this should not matter especially for USA as this country is 99% full of immigrants. I could understand if anyone ask me "Why not go for a native design/look?" and to this I'd answer that I'm no judge. I'm not doing all this to "restore" or seek "truth", give the original people the recognition they deserve or whatsoever. It's not my role as a french guy on Instagram to pretend doing so. I need to stay objective and not let my own culture and pov affect my work or at some point I'll mess up big time. About the native subject, I sometimes might go for it (just did it with Canada and Australia but also NZ) and sometimes not (like I didn't for USA and probably some others in the future). I hope you understand out of all countries USA is literally THE ONE this discussion should not even exist. She could be Italian, Mexican, Beninese, Irish looking it would not matter at all. If I make Switzerland eastern asian looking I could understand if anyone sees this as odd or even provocative. For USA, besides the native subject everything else is just obsession for what doesn't matter at all.

What I don't get about the USA is that why does she look black? I mean she is supposed to be multiracial, like White, Black, Native American, Asian, Hispanic, etc.

It's a lumberjack reference. I think I also see a reference to Paul Bunyan, right?
