Decide 4r The Future (2025 Planning)
Added 2025-02-10 13:50:40 +0000 UTCHey Guys, I need your help with the decisions for this year...
As you might know, the initial plans for ''Road to Stockholm'' project was to create one gigantic-super-ultra-mega map, where you could drive from Hamburg, through Denmark, through Sweden to Stockholm. While this would definetely be possible, sadly due to the scale and size of the map, it will bring some problems. The biggest problem you can already notice when driving to the endpoints of Schweden / Hamburg, where the car and camera is starting to get shaky. This is simply because the map is too big, and ac engine is not able to calculate cars positon correctly if they are too far away from mid point of the map.
So there is pretty much only 2 options now:
1. - I could add Stockholm to Hamburg + Denmark + Sweden maps, but it will have the shaking cars bug and there would be nothing i could do about that.
or
2. - I could prevent the shaking problem by splitting the gigantic map into 2 seperate ones, meaning ''Hamburg + Denmark'' and ''Sweden + Stockholm'' would become seperate maps. Like this, you would not be able to drive from Hamburg to Stockholm in one map, BUT we would not have the shaking problem at all, and it would also allow me to put alot more detail and more high quality textures on the tracks.
I dont wont to give you a shaky map, but option 2 is also different then the initial plans, so I want to let you decide how this would roll out. Personally I would go with option 2 now, Hamburg and Stockholm would not be connected but both maps will look and perform alot better if we do it like this and they would still be insanely big (I mean, have you every reached the end of the map?)
Connecting Hamburg + Denmark + Sweden was already a huge technical challenge and no matter what option you choose there would be again be a ton of work involved. Also the reason why there is no new traffic mod yet is simply because it would need to be redone entierly again depending on what decision you make here.
I hope you like my creations so far and can understand that for me its very important to give you a good looking and good performing experience, wich would probably not be possible by adding Stockholm to those 3 already gigantic maps... Decide what is more important for you below.

I think you set the world record for the largest map in Assetto Corsa. That's insane and deserves respect. Please try always to provide the traffic lanes for practice single player so I can showcase your maps more often and easy to a wider audience.

Only had a couple of biggish crashes towards the end. Took about 57 minutes, and it was a blast. Not sure I want to lose that.

2025-02-14 22:24:24 +0000 UTCI'm for anything that increases immersion, so voting to split the maps. However, I've been driving a lot in the server linked on Discord that has the maps combined, with working (more or less) traffic all the way from end to end, and it works well enough. I'm not really concerned about texture resolution when I'm weaving through traffic at 300km/h. Can we keep that in it's current state, and make the split tracks a new entity rather than over-writing it?

2025-02-14 22:19:20 +0000 UTCSplitting the map is better, more detail feeds realism fs, I suggested this before but just putting a lil reminder to please take up an NYC highways map after you're done with this project, you'd do great!
