Back in 2008 I was barely learning how to use digital tools, and I was also discovering the possibilities of a little program named Photoshop.
I was completely inexperienced at using the computer for any sort of art or design activity, and every attempt ended up in a complete failure. Not a single of my basic drawing skills was useful to me at the time.
Around April of 2008, I saw an advertise on the newspaper, and they were selling this top notch new digital pens. "For the artist within" I was blown away by the promise that I could actually be able to draw on my computer as I would do it on paper, and it became my dream to own one.
At the time is was an expensive piece of equipment, nothing that I could ever dream to afford by myself. However, with the help of my father, I was able to buy one, It felt like Xmas in the middle of the year, unreal.
Nowadays, I'm more aware of the sacrifice that my family had to make in order to grant me such gift, and I'm more grateful for it than before.
It took me a while to learn how to use it. It wasn't as I easy as I thought it would be. I would go as far as to say that, it wasn't until I joined deviant in 2009, that I truly pushed the potential of this amazing tool.
This is probably one of the best gift I've ever received , and I don't know what my life would be if I didn't had the opportunity to own one.
The drivers and software that the came with are obsolete nowadays, they're not compatible with the new windows tools. I'm currently using the closest equivalent for the Wacom pen lineup.
I guess that happens with every technology, eventually fades away and slowly dissappears.
One day, I'll like to tell the story in a comic form with greater details. It would be interesting to see this story being created by the same tool that got me where I am today.
(Currently writing this from my phone, my computer should be working again soon)
