I'm really playing Pokemon Yellow though. Apparently you're going to be able to transfer them to the Poke Bank and then to the newer versions.
I'm ready to see my pixelated creatures on a 3D enviroment once more :)

It's a cultural thing. I wouldn't feel particularly safe carrying a smartphone everywhere out in the open. I know I will never use it on a bus xD That hasn't stopped many to play it around here though.
