Favorite Harry Potter Themes/Tropes

Hey everyone. It has been a while since I made an interactive post where I take opinions instead of giving options. So, which are your favorite Harry Potter tropes/themes or just things you love to see in a Harry Potter fic?

Like, for me, I like the Old Money and lordship (a couple of lordships not dozens of them). I also love Hedwig is a Phoenix idea (as seen in RoLP).

So, tell me your favorite tropes and themes in the Harry Potter fandom! (It could also be something like you loving time travel fics or fics with an intelligent Harry etc.)

Let's vibe!

I like the Potter / Peverell too, but add in Gryfindor to a Potter ancestor and a Slytherin to the Evans.

One of my favorites too. Those are fun

My favorite trope definitely has to be harry having to take on the legacy of his ancestors, I love fics where the potters/peverells are a long standing families, from battlmages in Rome or artificers in early Britannia and harry has to use that influence and knowledge to help reshape the wizarding world.

I personally dislike the bashing fics, but I do like the gray harry fics a decent bit. Honestly, at times, the absolutely ridiculous amount of bashing is off putting. It just goes bad bad bad bad and destroys the character for nothing. It is a novelty for a couple of fics buts wears out quickly. There are some with a way more compelling characterization for Weasleys and Hermione. Ones that don't go bad bad bad but actually justify a different outlook and turn them into minor antagonist all the same. I love that sort of thing but dislike outright bashing when done just to force a plot in a certain direction. Antagonist Hermione and antagonist Weasleys is good at times. Very rarely but they can be good. Most aren't.

interesting

Me personally, I like the trope where the main character is sent to a different world and stays there not one of those they end up in a different world, but they’re trying to get back the whole time and it just kinda kills it for me

REDwolf28

Misguided and manipulative dumbles, thieving Weasley and ofcourse some good old well deserved Hermione bashing with an idea of Harry believing in both Light and dark forms of magic freely and having a neutral ideology with protecting muggleborns and yet preserving Wizarding culture against muggle ideas

PRASHANT SAXENA

I’m a fan of storylines involving Harry having an extended family beyond Vernon and Petunia. I’ve gotten into Yellowstone a little bit, and I’ve knocked around an idea of the Evans family having some connection to the Dutton’s. An Aunt Beth interaction with Severus would be interesting.

The Benefits of Saving Veela is good but it smut,

I honestly haven't read any of those besides RoLP, which is my own. I have seen good but manipulative but a truly good Dumbledore, I haven't beside RoLP...

Kind of along the lines of one of the really old Honks fic I read. The Summer of change iirc. It is a good one based on the Unspeakables being more than research people.

A good Dumbledore, I've read fic where Dumbledore needed to steal his money and marry him to ginny and I don't like them

I always loved the idea of the Department of Mysteries being less a research outfit and more of a national security service, along the lines of MI5/6, or the CIA/FBI/NSA trifecta. Like surely there's got to be more to magical national security then a single police department.
