Good morning all,
What a week it's been! Usually (indeed the past year, I would be exhausted and bloated at this point in the month- pre-period ). I did a lot of research into this and concluded this should not be normal. Unfortunately, society has made it seem like it's a normal thing to experience, thus suggesting we should live with suboptimal health and use pharmaceutical drugs to mask these issues; however, if our diet and health are on point PMS (pre menstrual symptoms should not exist). After extensively researching this, I knew that I needed to make changes.
Far too often, the medical/pharmaceutical industry prescribes drugs (when they are only ever a short-term fix that usually leads to more problems than solutions). When looking at gut health, antibiotics are one of the worse causes. The fundamental factor for most issues is a result of diet and lifestyle.
I have taken specific steps pre and since returning from Lanzarote to ensure that I am doing everything possible to fix my gut health. And so far, I feel it has been very effective.
I have cut out dairy and whey and significantly minimized processed food. So the first step should always be looking at a whole foods-based diet. Second I have been taking a digestive enzyme before all meals and adding in probiotic foods such as Sauerkraut. Third I have been consuming mainly plant-based foods and a lot of fiber.
My digestion has been very corporative, and it's been incredible not to have instant bloating after consuming food and drinking. Also, I have got a metabolic tracker (I've only had it a couple of days). This measures whether your body is consuming carbs or fat for energy and then gives you macronutrient intake to consume for the day based on the reading.
I often find that consuming too many carbs can tire me, so I am interested in optimizing my macronutrient intake. Hence, I feel energized throughout the day and minimize variations in energy levels. I will let you know how I get on with this device!
My thumb/ wrist is feeling much better now, so I can train handstands. And I love cycling to and from the gym, roughly 24km a day (if training 2 sessions).
The combination of being very active, injury-free, gut health, and normal being on point has been incredible, and I feel like I have gotten back into my flow state. However, I do feel I want to travel somewhere for a little bit.
Now everything is aligning very well; I feel its time to move on to project travel and create magical beauty ;).
I look forward to a long birthday stretch tomorrow!! π₯³πβ€οΈπ€ΈββοΈ
Have a great start to the weekend everyone π
Much love R xx
