今回は趣向を変えて、ストーリが連作になってます。

いつもと違った趣向を楽しんでもらえたら嬉しいです。

①「社長室に響く条件の笑み」

遠月の窮地を救うため、アリスはとある大企業の社長室を訪れた。

腰を下ろした社長は、ねっとりと笑いながら──

「条件はさ……まあ、言わなくても伝わるだろう？」

胸の奥が冷たくなる。

扉の鍵が静かに閉まる音が、アリスの背を震わせた──

②【着物】「晴着の裏に落ちる影」

新年の街に、赤い晴着のアリスがよく映えていた。

初詣の帰り道、スマホが震える。

画面に表示された名前に、胸がわずかにざわつく。

―― “例の件、ちょっと話せるかな？ せっかくの晴れ姿だ。会えたら嬉しいよ。”

社長の、あの含み笑いが目に浮かぶ。

冷たい冬風の中、アリスの背筋にだけ、別種の寒気が走った──

③【妊婦】「招待旅行の向こうで微笑む影…」

社長から届いたメッセージは、妙に軽い口調だった。

―― “新年だし、少し気分転換でも。温泉地を押さえておいたよ。

もちろん、他の社員も呼んであるから安心しておいで。”

その“安心して”が、どうにも胸に引っかかる。

招待なのか、呼び出しなのか。

湯煙の向こうで、彼の笑顔だけははっきりと想像できた──

① "A Smile of Conditions Echoes in the President's Office"

To save Totsuki from a difficult situation, Alice visits the president's office of a certain large company.

The president sits down and says with a sticky smile──

"The conditions are... well, you can guess without me having to say them, right?"

A chill runs down her chest.

The sound of the door quietly locking sends a shiver down her spine──

② [Kimono] "A Shadow Cast Behind the Formal Kimono"

Alice, dressed in her formal red kimono, looks stunning against the New Year's cityscape.

On her way home from visiting the shrine for the first time in the year, her smartphone vibrates.

A name appears on the screen, and her heart flutters slightly.

-- "Can we talk about that matter? You're in your finest attire. I'd be happy to meet you."

I can picture the president's wry smile in my mind.

In the cold winter wind, a different kind of chill ran down Alice's spine.

③ [Pregnant Woman] "A smiling shadow beyond the invitational trip..."

The message from the president was strangely light-hearted.

-- "It's the new year, so why not take a little change of scenery? I've booked a hot spring resort.

Of course, I've invited the other employees, so don't worry."

That "don't worry" somehow stuck in her mind.

Was it an invitation, or a summons?

Beyond the steam, she could clearly picture his smiling face.
