Just looked it up and the book came out in 1996. Though, this part of HxH doesn't really have enough specific details (no random weapon, no zone reduction, no Takeshi Kitano) to really say for sure there was direct influence (unlike Hunger games...). It's just easy to make the comparison because they're hunting each other on an island :)

2023-10-24 05:05:53 +0000 UTCStill slightly prefer Toji vs Gojo across those two episodes in the first arc this season just because of the OST, dialogue, and framing but in terms of a one episode constant battle yeah this is definitely the peak of the series excluding the movie of course

2023-10-23 23:07:04 +0000 UTC13:10 Which came first, Hunter x Hunter or Battle Royale --> it's a little hard to tell. The movie came out in 1999. This part of the HxH manga also came out that year, but presumably both were written (and not released to the public) quite a bit before that.

2023-10-23 20:29:33 +0000 UTCBy the way the targets points ARE worth more. It’s 3, compared to 1 for non targets. If you keep your badge and get your targets you win.

2023-10-23 15:29:39 +0000 UTCI was laughing about the bird thing later. Compare the concern for animal life vs the concern for human life

2023-10-23 15:18:35 +0000 UTCOne thing to note about Gon is that, while Mito raised him and took care of him, he spent very long amounts of time in the wilderness of his island and traversed the terrain of the island on his own. This not only establishes a greater sense of independence, but also his thought process. Gon very much learns and experiences things through direct contact and with his 5 senses, with there being basically no buffer or filter between outside events and his mind (as shown by his unflinching attitude towards death or Killua being an assassin). This also means that he doesn’t have much of an established system of logic or morality to decide his actions through, giving him the simplicity and impressionability of an animal. This doesn’t mean he’s dumb or immoral (very far from it), but applying standard logic or morals to Gon is a losing battle.

2023-10-23 15:15:26 +0000 UTCEasy to miss, but Gon actually put little cushions on the hooks so he doesn't severly injure the birds!
