We know Lucy encrypted or messed with the file Tanaka had on David being a good test subject for "the product." And the Arasaka team is looking for a runner that "has been interfering in our data recovery efforts regarding the cyber skeleton."

2023-10-20 04:12:29 +0000 UTCCyberpunk started out as a tabletop rpg like dnd, and in that your cyberware capacity was based on your humanity. So I think the show does a great job of showing that the less human you become, the more susceptable you are to cyberpsychosis. At the start, David was a great kid, mostly organic, a little down in the dumps with his situation, but he was grounded and had a good outlook. Fastforward to now when he's a chrome jockey, and he's not only a murderer but slowly losing himself to his cyberware. There's a lesson in that.

2023-10-20 00:51:37 +0000 UTCI’d definitely hold out. Also, don’t know if this has been mentioned, but the crew of characters we follow in the show are not the characters you follow in the game. It’s a whole different cast. They exist within a similar timeframe but it’s a diff storyline.

2023-10-19 23:05:00 +0000 UTCI don't think Kiwi knew who the hacker was. Faraday didn't. At least we don't get any indications to that in this episode. I want to believe that David is pushing himself and the team in order to get tickets for Lucy (and maybe him) to the moon. And Lucy is pushing herself to protect David('s data that people are looking for). It will be so deliciously tragic when probably both fail and realize that they ALREADY HAD IT GOOD and should've just be content with each other instead of pushing for more. I don't think this show is gonna have a happy ending. They've definitely gone the more grimdark route.

2023-10-19 20:28:30 +0000 UTCI'm remembering now that the simulation the guy put him in to make David go crazy was the first time we ever saw David hallucinate. He gets his limbs shot off, he hallucinates weapons growing from his wounds, and a MaxTac guy calls him "freak" before ending him. I feel like David thinks he's turning into a monster and is terrified of it. He doesn't value himself enough to care though, he instead focuses on making other's ambitions a reality (taking over in Maine's place to finish what he started, getting Lucy to the moon). He's such an empathetic and good kid that he's willing to destroy his humanity to make them happen, but lacks the awareness to realize that the people around him don't want to see him go down like that.

2023-10-19 19:02:57 +0000 UTCWhat's really interesting to me is how cyberpsychosis seems to be experienced differently based on each person. Maine experienced flashbacks and saw people as black blurs. David on the other hand sees metal and weapons bursting from inside people (he saw the same thing when that guy put him in the cyberpsycho simulation). I don't have any solid theories on what Maine's hallucinations might reflect for his character. He kept flashing back to that desert, from when it looked like he was completely "'ganic" - maybe his mind was trying to tell him to go back to a time when he was healthier? David's hallucinations are interesting to me though, I think he knows subconsciously that getting so many implants is dangerous for him and he's terrified of turning out like Maine did. Therefore, his hallucinations manifest as these horrifying visions of people that have so much technology inside their bodies that it's turning them into something not human. It almost feels like that's how David views himself deep down.

2023-10-19 18:51:43 +0000 UTCThat sequence with the 2 scientists wasn't a dream, it was what David actually saw when it happened. He's having full-on hallucinations now that led him to do what he did.
