***EDIT*** CLOSED *** Preliminary Poll(gate) 4.0 or 5.0 I can't remember

***EDIT*** CLOSED ***

Wow, that's a hell of a list! Thanks for all the great suggestions and rationales.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello, and welcome to what I'm sure will be a simple and drama-free process of selecting the show to fill the Haikyuu!! slot (show starting the week after next).

Due to the fact that:

- Patreon polls are unfortunately limited to 25 options

- Google Forms voting in the past has been... interesting (I'm looking at you Boku no Pico fans)

- I think I already have a general sense of which 4 or 5 shows will rank the highest

I decided to do voting options suggestions informally this time.

So: Please suggest shows in the comments and I will narrow it down to a maximum of 25 options based on my read of overall sentiment. The official poll will be held this weekend or early next week.

A few requests:

- Disagreement is of course fine but please keep comments constructive and civil.

- I always feel bad when I can't select shows people really like, so this is me saying I really do want to get to everything but some things just make more sense at certain times. Case in point: Hunter x Hunter lost what... 3 times? But it's happening. This is a request for understanding.

- Feel free to recommend multiple shows

- ***EDIT*** Non Japanese or non anime shows welcome

Thank you in advance for your great recommendations.

Love you all.

Can't wait to see what you guys think.

Comments

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. Your style fits perfectly for this show. Its very driven by things like morality and idealism. Well framed by a pretty great mecha anime.

The Large Amoeba

Would honestly do these if I had the resources

Alex G

Based solely on the title

Alex G

I'm sure I'd love it

Alex G

WOAH that's amazing news!!! I've been hoping for that for some time but had no idea it was happening

Alex G

It's interesting to hear that, because I also feel like I prefer BCS to BB (though the originally is of course amazing and legendary). BCS had a more lasting impact on me

Alex G

Yeah missed one there

Alex G

The streaming idea is interesting :D

Alex G

Lol I know I really want to tell him it's on the poll at least. Looks like it will be thankfully

Alex G

My anime suggestions were already suggested, so I'll suggest the One Piece Live Action

Ana

Hm, I feel like everyone should have seen Gintama at least once in their life, but it's kind of a hard sell because it's a) long and b) the really great stuff comes towards the end or is burried underneath the 90% wacky comedy this show mostly consists of. It's similar with One Piece, I love that story, but the Anime has pacing issues and the quality is really uneven (aside from being really long). But hey, the Netflix Live Action version of One Piece is really good and only has 8 episodes so far, so maybe that's a good alternative? And "The Good Place", I still wanna hear your thoughts on that! Other than that, if you're looking for another Sports Anime, I think you'd enjoy digging into Ookiku Furikabutte? Or Big Windup, as it's called in English, it's about Baseball. But it's a little unusual for a sports show, because the focus is much more on the training side of things than actual games? I'd almost call it slice of life sometimes. It's about a group of first-years building up a baseball club from scratch and everything that comes along with that.

kingafreund

Re zero, code geass, a place further than the universe, one piece, blue lock, made in abyss, odd taxi, And for non anime The bear

Aukar

-Goodwin: It will be simple and drama free process choosing show to continue after haikyuu - patreons: over 250 commentsšŸ˜‚ Just a little joke I love that there are so many great shows that people recommended.

Marko

I would like to specifically recommend the English dub of Assassination Classroom. It's a really great dub, especially for the time, and it has one of the best reputations of any English anime dub. I could (probably) tolerate the sub, but the dub is amazing enough to be worth consideration.

Noel

If you're ever looking for a short series, some that come to mind are the comedy anime Sk8 the Infinity and Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. Both are just 12 episodes so not really a huge commitment. Nozaki-kun is pretty much entirely just fun, no drama or major plot threads to track. Some of my favorite English dubs!

Noel

mushoku tensei, re:zero, your lie in April, death parade, oshi no ko, YOU, saiki k

.

I was gonna edit my original comment but i can't find it so i'm adding a new one! Here's my suggestions: - 86 [Eighty-Six] - mech/war anime with heavy WW2 themes. I feel like you would have so much good insight on the characters and the psychological themes they throw in. - Baccano! - historical fantasy, kinda goofy Prohibition-era mafia stuff. Nonlinear storyline and incredibly interesting characters would make for good commentary. - 91 Days - another mafia story but much more serious in tone than Baccano. Would be interesting to see you parse out the thought process of the MC. - Undead Murder Farce - a new show this season, supernatural detective show with very interesting characters (would LOVE to hear your thoughts on Tsugaru, I think he's a very unique character). - Dororo - another historical fantasy but ancient Japan instead of America. Dark themes but again very interesting characters/mindsets to be analyzed during commentary

Nox

OOO i forgot about 91 Days! I definitely back that suggestion as well.

Nox

Code Geass, it's similar to AOT!

Nathaniel Triay

A very long shot, but Kaiji its incredibly raw and emotional so it would be a delight to see you react to it, very grounded and a great commentary on modern society. Also would like to throw 91 days in the ring, again very grounded and focuses on the value of relationships in general with the background of a Mafia plot which is never seen in Anime. Also, only one season so it's quick and done. Not very popular picks, but ones that I think you'll love.

Ignacio Garcia

I loved Trigun Stampede. This might be a controversial opinion but I think it was a lot better than the 90's adaptation.

Ruma Risto

Jojo would be hilarious or dr Stone, Space Dandy, two piece

Porco

Dr stone would be amzing

Porco

If youre a Trigun fan, (classic beloved anime from the 90s) they did an incredible remake in 3D this year called ā€œTrigun Stampedeā€ and people really loved it, Myself included. Dope animation and overall story.

Alexiamw

Steins;gate and Run With the Wind are 2 shows i very recommend. Both are 24-26 eps long and complete stories. The latter is made by the same anime team as Haikyu and is a fantastic sports show

AryTheDog

Re:Zero Welcome to the NHK! Nana Monogatari Series Gurren Lagann Kino's Journey

Vincent

Ikr! It makes me so sad more people aren't watching it. The character work is some of the best in all of fiction.

Ruma Risto

Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu is so underappreciated in the anime community, it's criminal!! And even if Goodwin never reacts to it, I hope he gets a chance to watch it on his own time whenever possible. Not just the show but the art of Rakugo is so amazing and breathtakingly captivating!! A must watch for almost everyone I'd say.

Bighead

Yo a fellow genroku rakugo shinjuu fan. My number one anime and I never see anyone talking about it

Ashton Yeremian

I just want to see more variety of genres on the patreon here is all... it ain't that deep.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Konosuba is fantastic but I do agree with jte lol

Musicisum

- Psycho Pass (of any of these, this would be my top choice for a reaction) - Blue Exorcist - Castlevania - Soul Eater - Sword Art Online

Martin VanBuren III

mashle hella underated

M2GZ

hhah thx :), good too see so many rwtw fans on this patreon even if it doesn't win this time around I have hope>

M2GZ

that's what I'm saying 23 episodes will pass by in a flash

M2GZ

yah there is no "haikyuu people" just people recommending shows they enjoy not everything's a battle xD

M2GZ

I get you want bochii the rock but if haikyuu was great and he enjoyed it why not recommend something similar that's shorter, and its not like it doesn't have it differences bcuz it has a bunch.

M2GZ

Just restating some suggestions I’m a fan of: The Bear, Ranking of Kings

Tope

1.Code Geass it's kinda fun show to react, classic animate. 2.fate zero, pretty good show with fantastic characters, best of fate series. 3. Saga of Tanya the Evil animate deleted a lot of scenes, still worth watching. 4. Some old gundam stuff maybe ?

Elsa8888

Psycho pass

Mortis

Castlevania Bungo Stray Dogs Konosuba (dub) Mashle Summertime Render and FATE

Jake White

Avatar rewatch: part 2, korra rewatch, AoT rewatch, fruits basket rewatch, haikyuu rewatch. While I hope for these to come to fruition, I know there are more pressing shows to watch, to which I'm sure the rest of your patreon members will provide excellent recommendations.

Daniel Cunningham

both good recomendations!

Anya Mcghee

Steins;Gate --- Seeing this pick a lot in these comments, I hope it gets chosen! (Side note: I don't know if you care much for ratings but Steins;Gate has long held the silver metal for Top Anime on MyAnimeList right beside the king Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood who has long held the gold metal.) [Please do not do Dub] Sword Art Online --- An OG in the isekai genre. (has its ups and downs in the middle but the latest two seasons are super good and has great themes imo.) Psycho Pass --- Not enough reactions on this one, let alone good commentary. This show has deep/heavy philosophical/psychological themes so your style of commentary and analysis will be very interesting! I watched it when I was younger and was in it mostly for the gore LOL. Code Geass --- A classic. [One of the better Dubs out there]

Samuel Phan Le

If I can recall from a previous poll, he's already seen the first 5 seasons, so it would just be the sixth season, but I would 100% welcome that. Maybe just a video of him giving his thoughts on the first 5 first though.

Oak

Code Geass for me is a must. Saga of Tanya the Evil (Youjo Senki) is one of my favorites. Its not very famous and not very long (not finished yet) but it really deserves the spot on my heart Durarara (tokio bands and a bit of fantasy but a lot of character developement)

Leonardo Rivas-Micoud

he's gotta watch a couple "normal" isekai first before he watches a show that is a parody of isekai's themselves. he won't really understand the humor until he has seen other isekai anime imo.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Same here!!!! I just don’t understand. Maybe they think it’s not as high mind, or the concept is too outlandish, but it’s still really fun and it’s not like the writing is bad. And I love the season 3 mains, it makes me so sad that people haven’t seen them just because of this weird stigma season 2 has. I was also never bored a single episode, and yet I’ve only seen one reactor ever stick with the show. And he loved it too.

Fizzle

Bojack Horseman would also be great

Niko

REBORN AS A VENDING MACHINE!!! I’ve never been so certain about anything!

Donovan Brown

Long shot here but I think your reactions would be really funny, Konosuba. The show my heart wants you to experience is One Piece, or at least maybe doing a read along. Trust me when I say it’s not long enough.

magic

There's a lot in the comments I'd love to see but here are I few I don't think have been mentioned yet! Trigun stampede Life lessons with uramichi oniisan Mashle: magic and muscles

Cheesebit

HxH and Baccano are AMAZING, I cant believe I didnt think of those myself

Alex H

A slightly lighter but equally amazing show would be Hajime no Ippo, which is my personal favourite sports anime (just slightly above Haikyuu but its close). Boxing show with an amazing cast of characters, it can go from juvenile comedy to passion-filled deathmatches. Guarantee its worth the time of anyone who enjoys anime (especially if you like other sports anime) I left out a few that I had seen recommended but ill rattle em off anyway; HxH, Baccano!, Monster, Dr. Stone, Parasyte, Gurren Lagann And Pluto (by Naoki Urasawa from Monster and original story by Osamu Tezuka) is airing in October so if you enjoyed Monster, which I believe you mightve seen, thats definitely something to keep an eye out for

Alex H

@Jasmine Tea Enjoyer Didn’t you vote for Haikyuu? Generally in the last poll, there were people who wanted HxH, and those who didn’t. Those who didn’t voted for Vinland Saga and/or Haikyuu. The point is that those ā€œHaikyuu peopleā€ are basically all of the rest of the non-HxH fans who have to deal with a long HxH run, so should be given the next show as well. I’m sure that there are people who really didn’t want either, but that is a pretty small minority and beggars can’t be choosers. While some very shonen sports anime like Blue Lock and Kuroke’s Basketball aren’t very slice of life, other sports anime are and have the same appeal. The slice of life enjoyers are usually the ones who voted for Haikyuu. Your opinion is not the majority, or even the distinct minority. You’ve generally liked every mainstream battle shonen that was on the channel (other than HxH) and seem to just trash the one’s you haven’t seen.

Chris Sharpe

I have a memory of Goodwin mentioning Monster in a discussion, but I could be mistaken. If he hasnt seen it I vouch for it entirely though

Alex H

Bojack Horseman could be cool given how it deals with family and chilhood trauma, when I was watching it I was reminded of some of your discussions on Fruits Basket

Alex H

These are shows I really enjoyed, and I think you'd like them too. - Re:Zero - Shadows House - She-Ra and the Princesses of Power - Akudama Drive - Dr. Stone - Link Click - World Trigger These next few shows are great, but I don't normally request them because I feel most reaction channels would, frankly, give somewhat unsatisfying commentary. You, on the other hand, are an incredibly insightful guy, so I think you'd appreciate them and give great reactions. - Texhnolyze - Serial Experiments Lain - Monster - Shin Sekai Yori [known as 'From The New World' in English]

mushoku tensei sleeper comeback??? its in season so it could actually win a poll… maybe

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

josee, the tiger and the fish! so under rated! he has seen your name already though. still would like to see his reaction to it though.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Run With the Wind is just a Haikyuu fans choice… would be annoying if they got two shows in a row just for those people. Both shows have the same studio and they are both sports anime. We should move away from Sports and Battle Shounen’s for a little bit. Goodwin has watched very few Slice of Life anime and hasn’t even watched a SINGLE Isekai yet. Mushoku Tensei/Re:Zero or Bocchi the Rock needs to happen. Sadly it will lose in a poll to Steins Gate, One Punch Man, or basically any other mainstream popular anime.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

would be incredible and its in season so maybe it could win a poll

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Re:Zero Bocchi the Rock Oshi no Ko Cyberpunk Edgerunners

Dax

I really don’t get the whole ā€œonly season 1ā€ crowd. There are season 2 events that live in my head rent free above any show I’ve seen. There has never been a time, when rewatching Psycho Pass that I’ve thought, I’ll just skip season 2. Nope the whole damn ride is gripping to me.

I think this anime would resonate so much w Alex too considering how much of a traveler he is and the risks he’s taken in his life. And it’s a short watch so low commitment

BRus019

Also: The Good Place, since it's all about philosophy, and you in particular might really get something out of that! if you're looking for non-anime, otherwise nevermind!

Noel

Assassination Classroom, at least partly because I wanna see what a teacher's take on it would be!

Noel

Ted Lasso The Good Place A Place Further Than the Universe BOCCHI THE ROCK! Death Parade Sonny Boy

Chris

Definitely Mushoku Tensei, it has a lot of great themes and character stuff, and knowing how you've approached other things, I'm sure the stuff that turns most people off the show won't affect you much.

ArtficialFlvrz

How exciting! I actually was not aware that there was gonna be a new season coming out, but I'm so happy to hear that there is. Natsume and Mushishi are two shows I was happy to have stumbled across, both are very interesting and beautiful.

Helena Flores

Do you ever do Star Wars? They have some pretty great animated shows. Clone wars Bad batch Rebels I would be interesting to see what you think of them.

E.M

Seen some good shows so I’ll throw in a new pick: Better call Saul. If you’ve seen Breaking Bad it’s a sequel but I think has a lot more depth and is funnier overall

I know this is never going to happen but I highly recommend Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. It's a fantastic anime and one of my all-time favorite tv shows, a criminally underappreciated gem. Even if you're never going to react to it, you should definitely watch it. Other suggestions: Gurren Lagann, Steins; Gate, Psycho-Pass (first season), Beastars, Run with the Wind, Vanitas no Karte Non-anime: Bojack Horseman, The Legend of Vox Machina

Ruma Risto

Psycho Pass, Parasite.

ODIS

He watched all of it. It's on patreon.

ODIS

Gurren Lagann and Cyberpunk. And I highly recommend DUB for BOTH of them !!

Sparker

1: Banana Fish- I recall seeing it mentioned in previous show recommendations so I will not give up! Such an amazing, gut wrenching series and pretty short (24 eps). Unfortunately it’s not as popular as others but wanted to leave it here anyway! 2: Bungo Stray Dogs- I feel like it has gained so much attention within the last year or so, as it should! The story is so rich and just keeps getting better every season. 3: The case Study of Vanitas / Vanitas no karte - This show actually blew me away with everything!! The world building, the character design, the story; so damn good!!! (24 eps) 4: Sk8 the Infinity- I think this one would be a great way to follow Haikyuu. Skateboarding!! Super short (12 eps) but still hoping we get a season 2 one day. 5: Nana- I’m so happy other people have said it too! I would love to hear your thoughts throughout this show. 6: Given- Love, trauma and guitars; Featuring kageyama 2.0 also it wouldn’t win, but ā€œLife lessons with Uramichiā€ because it’s so depressingly hilarious

+1 for Mushoku Tensei and Oshi no ko

OptimalCaboose

Okay, here we go! Ouran High School Host Club, Oshi no Ko, The Good Place (American tv), Extraordinary Attorney Woo (kdrama), Death Parade, Community (American tv), and JUST season 1 of The Promised Neverland (again, so sad they didn’t make any more to this story since it was so good)

Athena

To your eternity, you already watched the first episode, and I think you would like the rest:) also One piece

LynZ

1. Steins;gate 2. A Place further than the universe 3. Psycho pass 4. Re:zero 5. Made in abyss 6. Link Click 7. Gurren Lagann 8. Mushoku Tensei 9. Run with the wind 10. Ping pong the animation Some live action shows to mix in: 1. Ted Lasso 2. Barry 3. Dark Also I think it might be fun to get some anime movie reactions as well, maybe some ones like: 1. Your Name 2. Sword of the stranger 3. Josee, the tiger and the fish 4. Maybe some satoshi kon movies as well Just some to watch every now and then maybe.

Shane O.

My vote is Oshi no ko feel like you'd have some valuable insight

Aldi Ajce

Ranking of kings, made in abyss, Mushoku Tensei

JUJ

Made in Abyss would be interesting. But here are some others I like, not sure if you have seen them already though haha; Hajime No Ippo, Cyberpunk:Edgerunners, Mushoku Tensei and Samurai Champloo is a classic that I still love so much! (Also would put Cowboy Bebop but I assume you've already witnessed that greatness) Hope the voting and polls go well and everybody can enjoy more "Goodwin Greatness"! Haha

Emman Reed

You my friend know what your talking about :) I hope if RWTW doesn’t win this time around it atleast gets brought back in future polls because imo it’s one of the most underated anime’s out there.

M2GZ

I’m down for mushoku ngl think Goodwin would have some rlly good discussion with this show

M2GZ

oshi no ko. kurokos basketball or blue lock for another sports anime. parasyte or summer time rendering would be interesting too.

Rayn

Ted Lasso is a great pick cant believe I forgot about it

Baltazar Huerta

Breaking Bad is amazing, but he’s seen it.

Chris Sharpe

Made in abyss

astroplace

It’s not malevolent I don’t think. It’s just in very poor taste, like in episode 1 the Mc pulls up a girls skirt to check out what panties she’s wearing. It’s played for laughs but very not okay by todays standards. Like I said just very 90s humor

Josh

I’m a little bit surprised, as Togashi is quite progressive, but I guess sometimes certain jokes like that can just come from a little bad taste rather than genuine malevolence.

Chris Sharpe

A classic like Code Geass, Death Note, or Parasyte/Kiseijuu would be fantastic. If we are looking at newer anime, Oshi No Ko and Devilman Crybaby are phenomenal entries, and right up your alley.

Chris Sharpe

Would love a reaction to Ted Lasso! It is not anime, but a live action story that did not seem like it would be the kind of show I'd enjoy, but ended up being one of the best shows I've seen. Very wholesome and very moving! Note that this is coming from someone who's favorite show is Vinland Saga.

Gabriel Barott

Some hot picks to far in the comments: Run with the Wind Ping Pong the Animation Blue Lock Ranking of Kings Bocchi the Rock Nana Oshi No Ko Made in Abyss Psycho Pass Gravity Falls Death Parade Ted Lasso Edit: seems that Run with the wind has the most comments suggesting it (11 comments), with Bocchi and Ranking of Kings also being pretty high (with 7 comments each). There are some others like Blue Lock and Made in Abyss with quite a few as well.

Chris Sharpe

Glad to see a few 'A Place Further Than the Universe' fans here. Please get this show on your radar! It's on of the most wholesome, relatable, emotional, and well written shows of the last decade.

Marcus Bae

I'd also love to see you react to adventure time plus the sequel series airing rn

Vahid rahimian

Steins gate!

Vahid rahimian

I have three recommendations. One is Welcome to demon school Iruma-kun. It's a lot like mha but way more slice of life and character dynamic driven. The other is Bungo Stray Dogs. An anime about characters looking for reasons to live. I would love to see your commentary on the shows themes. Lastly Dr.Stone. it's just fun an an appreciation of humanity

Sage

I would also like to recommend Run with the Wind and I’m glad to see so much love for this show in the comments. Knowing your opinion on running, I would be very curious if this show could actually challenge your view. It’s only 23 episodes long and the story is complete (no waiting for next seasons), the cast is ā€œolderā€ (college age – very refreshing, considering all the other high school sports anime) and the slice of life portion is actually really significant and very character-focused. My second pick would be Oshi no Ko. Child actors are one of the many themes touched upon in this show, so yeah… could be relatable for you as well. Other than that… this one’s just a really wild ride. :)

Swanlady

Paintmosi

What happened? What is that? I am curious 🤨 Edit: I need a lobotomy

Chris Sharpe

Also get Laura Bailey as keiko. And Chris sabat as kuwabara. Some absolutely spectacular voice talent coupled with 90s shonen goodness and you got a recipe for a banger.

Josh

It’s very good , but has VERY 90s humor. If you can get past the couple of homophobic, transphobic and sexist jokes then it’s quite good. The dub is also phenomenal. Mc voice is Justin Cooke known for such hits as kirishima in mha, and dende from dbz.

Josh

Honestly, I am pleasantly surprised by all of the Nana love that has been shown. I thought not enough people knew that series and gave up hope for it to be voted on, but now there is a chance!

Chris Sharpe

compared to some of the shows that seem to do well on polls, it's not quite as long, but I would LOVE to see your reaction to Made in Abyss

jozef salamun

Never watched Yu Yu Hakusho, but it would be honestly pretty interesting if we watched two popular anime by the same mangaka at the same time.

Chris Sharpe

I appreciate that Natsume Yuujinchou is at the top of your list XD Its probably my favorite anime. I'm excited for the new season comming out.

Anya Mcghee

Anya Mcghee

Both very good recomendations in my opinion

Anya Mcghee

That would definatly be a very interesting reaction show

Anya Mcghee

But I'll reccomend Blue Lock and Mushishi since those might be more up your alley and more popular as well.

Anya Mcghee

Diamond no Ace or Run with the Wind

Tylo

My favorite anime is Natsume Yuujinchou but its not very popular so it'll probably never make it to your watch list but it is a nice show. Honestly I just want more people to know about it.

Anya Mcghee

Blue Lock would be a great sports anime follow up! Also dying to see Re:Zero from you. The discussions would be immaculate.

CastSenpai

And that fact that hayashi has gone on record many times that rwtw is his favourite that he has done speaks volumes. The talent that this man has is unbelievable. Also there’s a rwtw soundtrack in haikyuu too!

Sacha

Your Lie in April would be lovely too

BRus019

A Place Further Than the Universe!!!

BRus019

1. Fate/Zero. Part of the massively popular "Fate" franchise (you've probably heard of or seen adds for the Fate/Grand Order mobile game). Basic premise is that 7 magic users called Masters summon Heroic Spirits from Earth's history (think King Arthur, Alexander the Great, etc.) to fight in a battle royale for the Holy Grail. This, like Vinland Saga, is another Seinen series, so it's darker and more adult and has a heavier emphasis on themes like killing one to save the many, martyring oneself for ideals, etc. 2. Psycho-Pass. Another Seinen. It's a psychological/crime show set in a dystopian future where a system runs everything and the "color" of your soul can be scanned and detected as means of determining if you are a criminal or not. This show delves deep into the theme of free will, and if being a cog in a system is worth the "peace" that comes with it. It also happens to feature one of the greatest antagonists in any fictonal medium, not just in anime. 3. Death Parade. This is a shorter series from the early 2010s that flew under the radar at the time. Even now, no one really talks about it. It's hard to explain what this show is about without spoiling the first episode reveal, so it's better to just go in blind. Without spoiling, it features people arriving in a strange bar and aplying mysterious games with no recollection of how they arrived there... Death Parade focuses HEAVILY on grey morality and poses the question of what really makes us human?

Polygon

Some really good shows being recommended! My picks would be: 1. Ranking of Kings !! (Deep, interesting characters and the best boy himself) 2. Steins; Gate (it's a classic that I think isn't appreciated enough) 3. 86 4. Bocchi the Rock 5. Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song (not gonna make it on the list but I'll just throw it in anyways lmao) 6. Run with the Wind

ez

Run with the Wind is amazing and would be such a good follow up to Haikyuu

Sidney Norris

Would love to see Re: Zero. Think you’d get a lot out of it in particular based on your commentary in the other shows you’ve watched.

Vali Sippola

Mushoku tensei or that time I got reincarnated as a slime

Why It

A Blue lock reaction would be nice.

Francis

Honestly Run with the wind would be great blue lock a cool second

Baltazar Huerta

For anime I'd say re:zero or the rising of the shield hero. For non anime its gotta be breaking bad if you've never seen it.

TheGrayJ

Re:Zero's new season is coming out soon-ish, so it would be good timing. Otherwise, I feel like that one guy on YouTube would be incensed if Bocchi the Rock weren't considered.

Ryan

Very sadly he's seen it already. Every once in a while, there's a reference to "take a potato chip, and eat it."

Ryan

Cyberpunk Edgerunners would be fun. It's a short series, only 10 episodes and it's so good with a lot of really deep topics and themes. I think you'll like it.

Noah Hoorn

I remember watching RWTW and being so shocked to hear some haikyuu ost’s thrown in there. This composer is goated with this haikyuu and mha.

M2GZ

RUN WITH THE WIND BABY

M2GZ

I would like to put forward Made in Abyss or Psycho Pass. Though with the latter, I’d LOVE for you to do all of the content. So many reactors listen when people say season 2 is bad and just stop watching at season 1, and then they don’t watch the movies or season 3 either as a result. The content is not at all as bad as they make it out to be, and it’s certainly not enough to miss out on the good content afterword. Plus, I think you could get good conversations out of the sci-fi concepts, even the more outlandish ones.

Fizzle

I'd nominate Ping pong the animation, Run with the wind and Nana

malikparah

I’m going to say a few ones that I haven’t seen so many people suggest just to see if any catch on. first Anohana this is my favorite anime of all time. At Least top 5. I think you watching this with your incredible emotional insight will make for the greatest watch of all time. Also for similar reasons I think you would enjoy A Place Further then the Universe, it’s cute girls doing cute stuff like bocchi but I think you will appreciate its overall message. However, if your looking to replace Haikyuu watch assassination classroom. I know other people have suggested that one but what can you do? it’s good fun.

Hayden Whaley

Odd Taxi, Gravity Falls

Bobby Squid

Yeah this was one of the first anime I watched way back when and I've probably watched it 4 times at this point. One of my all time favorites :)

Alex G

Ah, good to hear! I'm glad he was able to enjoy such an excellent show.

Ethan Cragg

For anime: Oshi no Ko. Dr Stone. Death Parade. Steins; Gate. Gurren Lagann For non-anime: Ben 10. Gravity Falls. These are all fantastic shows that I think would be really cool to see/hear you analyze. I think you'd enjoy all of them in very different ways.

Jeremy Ocasio

Steins; Gate, or one punch man if you haven't seen it

Payton Preo

he has! he really likes it from what I've heard I don't think it's on the channel though

Jeremy Ocasio

Oregairu or Bojack Horseman would be great!!

Donnie Betlem

This is absolutely a perfect choice! Ranking of Kings is shorter than some, but still full of so many excellent and distinct characters, with twists around every corner.

Ethan Cragg

If you haven't seen it yet, Cowboy Bebop would be amazing to see you watch, just due to the depth of your analysis and commentary when it comes to subtle yet striking character arcs.

Ethan Cragg

I have some classics to recommend like yu yu hakusho and the original mobile suit gundam. Also the new reboot of rurouni kenshin has been a really good watch.

Xavier Goshton

Psycho Pass is so underrated and I think you’d have a good time analyzing it!

Dana

Yes! Wonderful show, succinct and deep and very unique, attention grabbing animation

Sam B

Putting in my vote for Steins;Gate.

BotheredAsh

Ping Pong all the way!!

Sam B

Dororo is excellent

Sam B

- Chihayafuru - Run with the wind - Ping Pong the animation Are ones that I think would be great follow ups to Haikyuu Also Nana! Cuz it's great

spam

Yes!! That's what I thought too. And it's only 12 episodes I believe. Amazing show.

Sam B

Ping pong: The Animation! It's only 12 episodes long and hard a very unique and interesting art style. Wonderful messages

Sam B

Yes!!

Sam B

Oregairu

Justice Hastings

One Piece LA, Nana, Bocchi the Rock, Steven Universe, Ranking of Kings, and Steins:Gate. In that order. Also I look forward to if a show I haven’t watched is chosen, so I can watch more peak.

Chris Sharpe

Nana!

Chris Sharpe

Gurren Lagann. Personally I prefer the dub but either is fine. It's on the shorter end but complete.

blu_regards

Gravity Falls

Chris Choi

Ping Pong the Animation I feel would be perfect for you, Bonus of being a completed story with only 11eps.

Kiwi

I would like to hear your opinions on Death note

Francis

Oh yeah, also Your Lie In April (because romance and because your parents are musicians)

Amelia

Gravity Falls (a ā€œkids showā€ avatar vibes where yes, technically a kids show but it goes very deep and adults can enjoy it too. Slice of life, mystery, family) Banana fish (the saddest anime I’ve ever watched and I have seen Violet Evergarden and AOT. Very mature themes, would really like to see what commentary would come out of this show) Regardless of what show will be chosen, I can’t wait for your reactions!

Amelia

I’m still gutted that you have seen Monster already. Would have been such a good time!

Sacha

Eighty Six

Dely F.

Both amazing choices! Mo Dao Zu Shi would be such a great change of pace too

Sacha

Oh boy I could name soo many but I’ll keep it to 3 for now šŸ”¹Run with the Wind (college, sports, same studio and composer as haikyuu, completed) šŸ”¹86-Eighty Six (military, mecha, great modern sci-fi, not complete but s1 ends in a good place) šŸ”¹Banana Fish (old 80’s manga brought to modern time, mobs and gangs, dark subject matter, completed)

Sacha

Would love to watch S2 of to your eternity and more dragon prince but I get that not everyone wants to go back to those.

bl0odm1st

Run with the wind and Ping Pong the Animation you would definitely enjoy

Niko

Ahhhhh too many to pick from Boochi the rock Oshi no ko

Khalid

Still going to suggest Soul Eater even though its extremely old now, but I think you'd enjoy the characters quite a bit. Plus the English dub is excellent (and very recognizable given your reaction to FMAB)

Mildish Zombino

It's literally never going to win, but here's my suggestions: Eighty-Six, Dororo, and Undead Murder Farce

Nox

Since you mentioned wanting to do another romance show, I have to throw my vote behind Steins;Gate and Re: Zero for that category due to the quality of their characters. Golden Kamuy would make for hilarious reactions and commentary, and it might hold some entertaining challenges to your often discussed worldviews. World Trigger is my personal favorite shonen, the cast is as varied and likeable as MHA or Haikyuu, and it has a similar "part slice-of-life" feel to those shows. It doesn't as often deliver its themes in eloquent monologues, but I find they are clearly born out by the dynamics of the story/setting. It also has the best written combat scenes IMO. Despite popularity at an all time high in Japan, it may struggle to reach an English speaking YouTube audience, it is criminally under-watched here due to a somewhat janky first season. Seasons 2 and 3 are incredible adaptations though. Music by Kenji Kawai. Sonny Boy is a uniquely abstract universe hopping mind trip with beautiful visuals and deep symbolism. It would offer you no shortage of commentary to provide. There is a Season 2 of To Your Eternity that recently finished. Ping Pong the Animation is short and great. Especially coming off of Haikyuu and March. There are probably more that I'm not thinking of.

Tristan

If you want an oldie but a (problematic in 2023) goodie, yu yu hakusho.

Josh

The Fate series has always been and remains a huge hit. It has many fans who are always looking for Reactions / Reviews around Youtube. Plus, it has enough psychological and societal undertones to fit the overall serious tone of the channel. If you decide to go that way, the order should be Fate/Zero > Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works > Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel I - III (3 movies). Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is also great (AND super popular with western audiences). It is also extremely mature (it's a supernatural psychological drama), despite what the overall atyle and promotional material might suggest. It's also very short: 12 episodes and 1 movie. The only drawback is that the story isn't concluded yet, there's one more movie coming some time in 2024. My final suggestion to check out would be Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Legend ofthe Galactic Heroes). It's a political/social/psychological space opera that spans 110 episodes and about a dozen canon prequels. Its sheer size and level of maturity is what deters most people (Contect Creators, I mean) from taking it up. I've only seen 2 attempts on Youtube, and one was, if I recall, dropped. IF you decide to go that route, I'm sure it would be the highlight of the channel; if not in matters of viewership, then definitely in matters of actual content.

Arakis

Re:Zero would have interesting reactions, if anything

J

Ping pong: the animation was made for you

Vlad Tunsoiu

This is incredibly based. Right up his alley too.

Rice

I’m gonna go with Made in Abyss for my pick. Lots of great shows being recommended though, excited to see what wins.

Rice

Steins;Gate or Code geass are my picks

Diogo Martins

Re: Zero has to be my pick. Or blue lock if you want to keep on the sports anime trend

Rafael Miranda

Ranking of kings

mapo picker

Steins;Gate has to be my pick. I love that show to death.

Oak

I will be happy with anything, my recomemendation are: 1. Gintama, my favorite anime ever so I must recommend it but it has many episodes 2. Toradora, romantic comedy with great twists 3. Your lie in April, drama romance with classical music as one of main themes ( I think this could be interesting because you mentioned your parents are musicians) 4. Clannad and Calannad after story, also high school romance but it is anime more about life, Clannad after story is sequel which is where the things get real. 5. Angel Beats very unique anime it has some great themes. Sry for long list and thanks for great content.

Marko

Also it’s only 1 season so you can fill the spot with something else pretty quickly lol

Avery Strasser

As someone who's moved pretty much annually until Covid I can relate. I've broken my back many times since I tend to be a hoarder 😭

Jade

You should look into Run With the Wind! Maybe my favorite anime it’s a sports/slice of life anime like haikuu with amazing characters 🧔

Avery Strasser

Can't remember exactly why, but I vaguely remember that I had a big lifestyle change that kept me busy for a while around the time I started it. I think I moved to Shanghai

Alex G

Oh nice. Did you not like OPM or just had other things and dropped it? Just kinda curious cause with season 3 happening sometime in the next 50 years it's gonna be a fun watch as a filthy manga reader

Jade

Monster is one of the shows I wish I hadn't seen yet cause it would be perfect for me. Last of Us I've also seen but maybe season 2?

Alex G

Steins Gate is rly good. It is older show but aged very well the story is deep an writen amazingly.

Marko

Steins Gate, Monster, or The Last of Us would all be awesome imo :P

willmarko

I haven't seen any of them except Your Name, and non-anime recommendations are welcome :) Oh but I did watch the first 5 or so episodes of OPM

Alex G

Other than the shows you've reacted to online I'm not sure which ones you might have already seen or don't intend to react to but I would be interested in: 1. Bocchi The Rock [like everyone else it seems lol] 2. One Punch Man [you might have already seen it but I didn't see a reaction so putting it here just in case] & 3. Gravity Falls [not sure if you only watch Anime style shows but I think it could be a fun time.] & if you wanna watch movies these are pretty popular well liked ones 1. Your name 2. Nimona Again if you've seen any of these already & I missed it then you can just ignore this overly long comment šŸ’€

Jade

@Lars Leemans The curse of being in Disney+ jail... Sad.

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Dr stone !!

katie

HERE WE GO not anime but: The Bear! it's the most stressful and heartfelt show i've ever seen in my life and i'm on a mission to recommend it to everyone i meet. short episodes and only 2 seasons so you would be able to refill the slot with something else fairly soon. also not anime but: Good Omens! it's a delightful romp based on the neil gaiman and terry pratchett book about the apocalypse and some extremely domestic angels and demons - very funny and also heartfelt in many ways. for anime: - Made in Abyss - wonderful worldbuilding and atmosphere and horror! i feel like you would really relate to the indomitable spirit of adventure against all odds that drives this series forward. - Dorohedoro - PLEASE this show is short and extremely underrated; it's darkly hilarious and absurdist, it's like chainsaw man except written by a woman who enjoys other (very buff) women - i know this is definitely on your list but another strong vote for hunter x hunter which i'm very excited for you to start :-) - this is totally delusional but what if you watched inuyasha

Jo

Psycho pass

Egrassa

Odd taxi would be awesome, and it's only 12 or so episodes. Summertime rendering is also awesome but a bit longer. Assasination Classroom would also be great to see your take on.

Lars Leemans

Apologies for the long list. -Natsume Yuujinchou -Noragami -Orange -The twelve kingdoms -Re:zero -The Ancient Magus bride -86 -Kotaro lives alone -Your lie in april -Dororo -Nana

Helena Flores

It's such a tragedy that one of the best shows of the fast few years was overlooked like this

Lars Leemans

Psycho Pass has my vote!

Will Butler

Blue lock would be a fun twist after seeing Haikyuu

RichiPete

Another vote for Blue Lock, would be fascinating to watch it on the heels of Haikyuu. Covers many aspects of sports psychology that Haikyuu doesn't, often taking the completely opposite approach, but still making things very hype and intriguing. Ranking of Kings too. Wonderful, beautiful, magical story.

MisterRathrion

Steins Gate, Odd Taxi or Ted Lasso!!

JustMeDude

Omg MDZS yes

BOCCHI SUPREMACY

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

I've met Jesus Christ our lord and saviour and he was a pink haired japanese high school girl who plays the guitar

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

Ohhh, I second this. It would be a good watch, and it’s short and sweet too, so it wouldn’t take long to get through and get to another person’s suggestion, unlike some of the longer ones that would mean it would take forever to get to this after- šŸ‘€

Jacob Harmon

Please start Fate!!!! Fate zero, sequelled by fate unlimited blade works Into the heavens feel movie trilogy There's a lot of great animation, some philosophical discussion, and more!

Ryuga

Wholesome: Ass Class / Ted Lasso / Ranking of Kings. More Adult: Made in Abyss / Monster. For Dubs: Ass Class / Code Geass / Steins Gate

NitrousOxide19

Anime Shows that I think you would click with. 1) Psycho Pass 2) Ascendance of a Bookworm 3) The Disastrous Life of Saiki K 4) Tanya The Evil

Jo

Re:Zero and Fate/Zero

Skye Donachie

Blue lock, the perfect counterpart to Haikyuu and Bocchi the Rock, goated slice of life music anime

RoZiiii

Death parade, a silent voice, romantic killer, ouran high school host club, & blue lock!!! Love your vids🫶🫶

Marina B

Kuroko's Basketball if you want some more hype sports and exciting characters and music

DontStealMyFish

Lmao yeah good times

Alex G

Assasination Classroom! I have been thinking of this ever since you've talked about your many experiences as a teacher. The fact that you have also watched GTO adds to this.

Ohm

Yeah I remember someone had to leave a comment explaining to him what happened lmao.

Rice

Ted Lasso. I know it's not anime. But its the chicken soup for the soul kind of show, that I know you dig.

Jo

Eighty-six for the dark emotional rollercoaster. Bocchi for the fuzzy feels.

tinyviking

It’s that time again everybody! I’d be a huge fan of either blue lock (to replace that sports anime slot with a bit of a twist) or or assassination classroom. I think both would be super fun! Please pick anything you think you’d personally enjoy! I’ll watch it all :)

Casey Turner

And also of course the best Piece of Fiction imo: One Piece!

Profi206

BOCCHI BOCCHI BOCCHI

Summertime Render. Such a good and underrated Anime imo

Profi206

Infinity Train! RWBY! Bocchi the Rock!

Musicisum

Made In Abyss, Akame ga Kill!

Momo

Oh my god… once again the battle lines have been drawn. Also I completely forgot about the whole boku no pico incident that was wild.

Rice

Nana and Blood+ absolutely! I think you'd absolutely love both. Nana especially is very slice of life with meaningful takeaways.

Thysbe

*Laughs maniacally* It is time once again... for me to ask... for BOCCHI THE ROCK TOTAL BOCCHI SUPREMACY
