The "player specific cheer" thing is actually really common. Almost all teams will have a few of them, and you have to memorize them before the tournaments. In this case, just "Nice kill, [insert name], tobe tobe [insert name], mou ippon," but I remember having to learn a few patterns for each sport. One really painful memory of teaching in Japan for me was trying to teach all the *other* English teachers these cheers, haha. If you spoke no Japanese, it could be rough, and soccer was the worst because they were fast and long, but as a linguist, the one I thought was funniest was for basketball, how they would cheer "defense" but in 3 beats as "de-fen-SU."

Don't forget that season 1-3 Hinata wouldn't have put himself in the way of the ball before. It was just dumb/bad luck on his part that he'd always get hit in the face! He's really using what he learned in his training camp!

Athena

If someone threw a grenade into the cheering stand I would feel nothing.

It is definitely an interesting read

I had a roommate who was reading Marcus Aurelius and was talking about it. Same exact thought process

Funnily enough, while I think I am familiar with it and the general messages, I've only read through the first chapter (?) or so. I should get back to it

Was reading The Medetations the other day and thought: "man, this dude Marcus sounds a lot like this weird Youtuber I know."

Anya Mcghee

Got it :)

Hey commented this on your last haikyuu post but wasn’t sure if you saw it. So this season came out fall 2020 during the pandemic so some parts needed to be outsourced, so a couple scenes might seem a bit janky compared to other matches but it’s rlly only for episode 15 and about half of episode 19. Outside of that this match is still one of my favs. :)

M2GZ

PERFECT timing
