2023-08-04 15:12:42 +0000 UTCOne of my favorite parts about Haikyuu: Every character in this show has someone who lifts them when they're down, but also knock them off their high horse if needed. In this episode we see Akaashi do this for Bokuto when he's in emo mode, and with Hoshiumi's teammate right after his monologue about being short in volleyball. My favorite example is S2 Ep1, where Kageyama and Hinata and their awesome "from the concrete" line, only to have Takeda Sensei tell them they have to pass their exams π€£.

2023-08-03 18:13:32 +0000 UTCOne thing I do want to point out is that Akaashi (Fukurodaniβs setter) says that Bokuto does not fumble in actual serious matches where their back is against the wall, and actually becomes more sturdy and reliable than the other teammates in times like that and motivates them, much like a proper ace. The fact that he does this in matches like the first round shows that he feels safe around his teammates. This is reinforced by the fact that Fukurodani is a team with 5 starting 3rd years, meaning that Bokuto has worked with most of his team in the court since he started high school. The third years seem to be content with just letting him mope, but Akaashi (a second year) would rather try to cheer him up and have him playing at his best as he says. I really hope the later manga adaptation does them justice.
