Goodwins dream of karasuno winning comes true 😁

Marko

Nishinoya also has "no concerns" lol! Ushijima is probably the very disciplined yet confident no concerns guy and Nishinoya is the chaotically confident no concerns guy...

Bighead

"no concerns" is great.

Alex G

It's a very "grumpy old man" way to show compassion. And the team smiling back at the 100 serves is nice, too. In a way, it's showing that he still expects them to be the best going forward.

Ryan

I don't know if you remember (it's really easy to forget so won't blame you) but Shiratorizawa's coach threatened to make the team walk back to the school if they played a bad game. When they lost, even though he didn't explicitly praise them he asked them to get on the bus after the ceremony. They make a more explicit callback in the manga by showing the panel but here its really easy to miss.

Aanvik

Yes! Ty!

Josh Stewart

I assume you meant ushiwaka. And yes! I love that moment. It trusts the viewer to keep up

Aanvik

Something i love from this, when Ushiwaka says he will defeat them next time. Thats his last high school game. Meaning he recognizes they will and have the talent to meet him in college or even the pro leagues.

Josh Stewart

Since no one has done this, I want to show the profiles of the Shiratorizawa players: Wakatoshi Ushijima: * Favorite Food: Hayashi rice * Current Concern: None. Satori Tendo: * Favorite Food: Chocolate Ice Cream * Current Concern: None of his teammates want to talk to him about Shōnen Jump Reon Ohira (the guy Hinata called Benkei and the vice-captain): * Favorite food: Simmered Mackeral in Miso * Current Concern: He can't help but say stuff like: "There we go", when he sits down. Tsutomu Goshiki (wannabe ace): * Favorite Food: Boiled Flatfish * Current Concern: He wants to be able to hit a sharper cross. Kenjiro Shirabu (setter with an attitude): * Favorite Food: Whitebait * Current Concern: He wants to be taller. Taichi Kawanishi (other middle blocker “I hate you Taichi”): * Favorite Food: Sukiyaki * Current Concern: "My allergies may be acting up..." Hayato Yamagata (the libero): * Favorite Food: Sea Urchin on Rice * Current Concern: He keeps forgetting where he put his phone. Eita Semi (silver-haired back up setter and pinch server): * Favorite Food: Tekka Rolls * Current Concern: Tendo told him that he looks uncool in casual clothes.

yeah all it takes is one bad egg to ruin everything. I think you’re right that in particular with a sport game’s result that seems soo much more at risk to get spoiled on.

Sacha

You definitely need to watch both OVAs and be prepared for the animation change, even with that is an amazing season, it might be my favorite

Carlos Salazar

Also love how Iwaizumi considers Oikawa and Kageyama master and apprentice. Oikawa is somehow the worst and the best master to Kageyama in a sense- him constantly inspiring, motivating and challenging Kageyama to be his best by just existing but also having done nothing to explicitly help him, then taking some credit lol. But honestly I love to see it!! He's like the annoying big brother to Kageyama who constantly likes to pick on him

Bighead

Yeah I love how "I'll win next time" coming from rivals like Ushijima and Oikawa (also Date Tech- Aone) is Haikyuu's sign of praise and respect, instead of direct showering of compliments. I really appreciate those subtle exchanges between rival teams and makes me invested in their rivalry more!

Bighead

Watching Land Vs Air OVA’s is a really good idea! Provides more context for the 4th season plus you get to see Nekoma and Fukorodani play some qualifying matches against new and interesting teams!

My camping trip

No I've been very fortunate, a testament to this community. But I felt it was especially significant this time as the result was so binary and I talked about it so much. Nobody said or implied anything that I caught. Pretty amazing

Alex G

Something to note, Ushijima told Hinata and Kageyama that he'll win the next time they play, but as we know, Ushijima is graduating and won't be playing in high school tournaments anymore. The unspoken context here is that Ushijima recognizes the skill and potential of our weirdo first year duo and expects them to enter the professional scene at some point, and he intends to beat them there. IMO, that's as good as praise gets from someone as serious and straightforward as Mr.Super Ace. I also loved the interaction between Tendo and Ushijima. They're honestly my favorite pair outside of our main cast. Their extreme natures are complimentary when put together. Also, can't wait to watch you experience the fourth season and the National Tournament!! Make sure to watch the OVAs, and the additional content at the end of the Shiratorizawa Arc's movie for some more heartfelt wrapup.

Also, Mt. Fuji! Nice

Ryan

One of my favorite parts of this episode is how it begins with the cold open of just the opening theme. Language notes: - 25:20 "Youths" is basically the National All-Star team. It means he's one of 14-ish people throughout the country who are basically being scouted to represent Japan at World's. - Iwaizumi says Kageyama is like Oikawa's "deshi" (弟子), and they translate that as "student." In Japan it's always used as one half of a whole phrase: deshi-shishou (弟子師匠), apprentice-master. You've brought this up before, but I like how you can see so much of Oikawa's play style in Kageyama, just straight-up copying. - 16:15 I think I didn't understand this the first time, but I think it's actually close to high praise from Ushijima to Hinata and Kageyama, too, that he says "next time." I mean, he's assuming there will be a "next time," and Ushijima's a 3rd-year, so that means after high school. In a really roundabout way, he's acknowledging that Hinata and Kageyama have proven themselves enough to make it to that next level, and he'll be waiting for them. - 22:10 Always kinda weirded me out a bit how Hinata's hoodie just says "oniku" --> "meat" (like from the barbecue).

Ryan

Great season, I think Haikyuu is the most consistent sports show across the board in terms of quality which makes it a really special complete package even if some other shows hit higher highs for me. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet but I'll repost just in case, both the Land Vs Air and The Path of the Ball OVAs are canon chapter adaptions about the events between seasons 3 and 4

OptimalCaboose

I have watched this show, this season, this episode countless times and yet “Farewell, my paradise” and the third years hug will always make my cry. Season 1-3 has been amazing but haikyuu became my favourite story of all time because of everything that comes after. I’m really looking forward to what you make of it! Also genuinely curious, do you get spoiled often on things?

Sacha

A double upload to cap off an incredible season. You love to see it.

RageKage
