Late again to commenting, blegh. 1:00 Can coaches hit players? They're certainly not supposed to, but sadly, it's still a big thing even today. It's also been documented that the crackdown on physical punishment and the decreased amount of physical abuse was accompanied by a sharp increase in verbal abuse. Haikyuu isn't really so much about focusing on the darker parts of sports in Japan, but I'm glad that they at least touched on that and acknowledged that it exists. 17:00 I really like this line, where the one guy asks why his friend is talking to the grumpy old Karasuno fan as if they're friends. In the West, we don't think of it as that strange to talk to strangers and make random "single-serving friends," but it's very rare in Japan, and sports are one of the few cases where you really do interact with and become like friends for a short while with people you otherwise would've never crossed paths with. It's one of the few cases where just blurting out what you think as a fan is socially acceptable, and it's nice that they took the time to acknowledge how that's a pretty special interaction. 20:45 I think you probably got it, but Tanaka's pump-up line was in the form of a haiku: ko-u-ha-i-wo (5) sa-sa-e-te-ko-so-no (7) se-n-pa-i-da (5) That's why Suga thought it was so noteworthy. I've only once ever been able to come up with a 5-7-5 on the spot like that, but if you're ever able to do it, people in Japan will notice, in case you're ever trying to impress a particular person, haha.

Stupid, sexy Oikawa... with glasses.

Swanlady

Your eyes look great! Glad they healed nicely. This season's tagline/subtitle is actually The Battle of Concepts so it's quite literally what you noticed! Both team and coach-wise and individuals, like Tsukki vs Tendo.

Hinata's such a ball of sunshine and inspiration and everything nice. Everytime I see him in match I feel exhausted for him yet motivated that I want to go for a run.

Bighead

First the Karasuno win, I can worry about the rest later
