Okay me, super Oikawa Stan, watching this here for the first time. Omg I love him even more.

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

YES!!!! The start of my favorite season! Also the reveal of my pfp. "Well hello, Left."

Athena

same!

In America, we play 3 sets for a practice game and 5 sets for all other games. I tell ya, it's a whole lotta stamina. Let's see how our boys handle it. I have more to say about the difference in sets but I'll comment more later on :)

Athena

Interesting! The line is at 15:25, and the Japanese says 'nakama ga dekita nda ne' (仲間ができたんだね), so the thing that Hinata made was "nakama," and basically it means people who work together with you on your side. I can see why people would struggle between calling that a team / teammates / friends, but I like your interpretation.

Ryan

Small translation thing: when hinata meets his friends from middle school, in the manga they say “Sho-Chan finally found a team” instead of “finally made friends.” I think that translation makes a lot more sense because hinata can be friends with anyone but there was only one team where he could’ve succeeded

It’s always a blast watching Mr.Godwin’s reactions <3

Aaaaahhhh, Time to get the Shiratorizawa chants stuck in my head again. There are so many random times that my brain goes "*CLAP CLAP* USHIJIMA *CLAP CLAP* USHIJIMA"

Spizami

You booing Shiratorizawas team as they were listing their players had me dying lmaooo

Sparker

9+10 for sure.

UndeadDesk

Yeah I typically either watch 1 or 2 episodes per sitting. Which episodes do you think work best together?

Alex G

not sure if you saw my previous comment on the last video, but i was wondering if you normally watch episodes in one sitting rather than different days. There are two episodes this season that i personally think have a weird stoppage point and work so much better if you watch them back to back.

UndeadDesk

As you've figured out, Shiratorizawa's name does indeed come from white eagle (spelled a little differently, but the same idea). The name of their coach, Washijou, is 鷲匠, 'eagle-master.' He has the same voice actor as Frieza from Dragonball, which I find funny, haha. Anyway, all of the player names except for Ushijima are the names of onsen in Yamagata prefecture. In particular, most of them are from a famous onsen region called the "Yonezawa 8." (https://yonezawa8.jp/yonezawa_8_map/) There's a whole group of onsen, like Shirabu, and Goshiki, that are in a tight little cluster.

Ryan

Benkei, but yes. ;)

Ryan

About the guy that Hinata called “Benkai” (not sure if this was mentioned in a previous video), it is part of an old legend. It talks about the legendary swordsman Ushiwaka (what Ushijima is nicknamed), and Benkai is his apprentice. When enemy forces came for Ushiwaka, Benkai stepped in and defended against an entire army, only dying after volleys of arrows. Hinata refers to Reon (the player) as Benkai because he kind of assumes him to be sort of the right hand of Ushijima. Also, Ushijima’s full name is Ushijima Wakatoshi, so combining the two creates Ushiwaka.

Hah oh yeah

LETS GOOOOO

We don't really get to see a lot of aoba josai and their third years, but somehow the 5 minutes in this epilogue brings out their great bond- just hanging out, playing volleyball at school, horsing around and crying, it was so beautiful. Especially the interaction between Iwaizumi and Oikawa at the end there was so heartwarming and again somehow captures the years of their friendship in that moment, it's hard not to tear up. But as you said, and Iwa chan alluded to, this is just the beginning for Oikawa, and he'll be the annoying guy who forever chases volleyball, and that's his perfect ending. Now onto the next epic match, there are so many great moments this season!! And the ed of this season is probably my favourite, just for the nostalgia of it. Seeing how the anime might be coming to an end his year with two movies(which is a topic in itself, scary to see how they'll adapt all that remaining material), this ending, all these teams and just realising how far they've come and how far they'll go, is such a goofy little happy memory summarised in a poster. And you see snippets of everyone's personality in there. Also, 15.50- the juxtaposition of Tsukki getting all geared up with his sports glasses that his brother gifted him while being his usual nonchalant negative self is so Tsukki of him!!

Bighead

i am SO EXCITED for this entire season but even more so the next few episodes, some of my favorites of the whole show!!! can barely wait for these reactions!!!! you are going to love it

Mima

Daichi's bruise always reminds me that the accident happened just yesterday in their time. It feels like eons ago for us XD

Sage

Love this season. First sighting of yet another great Middle Blocker character, Tendou Satori.

RageKage

GAH! One of the best seasons. Honestly I can't even say that cause this entire show might be my favorite anime.
