I guess after this episode your simping for him has reached a level where you have no choice but to call him the right name 😂 For good reason too, I love his character a lot. When he was first introduced I thought he was kind of obnoxious but the more I learn about him the more he impresses me. I guess I’m not that different from the spectators at the children’s competition haha

And after learning of Nikaidou's story, like Rei said, he's a fireball, so awe-inspiring, strong and powerful. And I think the reason he has never told Rei about his illness is probably because Rei felt like an escape to him. Someone who saw him as an equal, who doesn't know about his illness, who doesn't pity him and hold back on him when playing shogi. And as he said, he knows Rei has his own problems and is emotionally unstable so he probably fears his illness would burden Rei more and hinder his performance against him due to his empathetic nature.
