@Athena Of course, good point.

2023-03-23 03:48:44 +0000 UTCI understand the dislike for team backstories (specifically this one), however, I appreciate the lessons and messages each one gives us. I feel like "never give up" is the best advice/lesson to give in volleyball because, "It ain't over till it's over," is very relevant. During games you might get discouraged because the team you're against is waaay stronger and more skilled than you, but you never know what one point will do for you in the game. I love this team's backstory for this alone :)

2023-03-23 03:31:36 +0000 UTCStarts a little before this, but you start to hear it more clearly at about 7:45: the soundtrack is called "Baby Bird" ('youchou' https://youtu.be/F34r-kXb804?t=32). Might be worth it to learn the melody at that time mark, since it will come back in various evolved forms soon. Tanaka's peaceful nature thing. At 4:12, the Ougi Minami players are saying "Maji dasee shi, maji maji," which is the stereotype hooligan/troublemaker (or what Japanese people call "Yankee") speech. Tanaka responds by imitating Buddhist priest speech. His sentences before and after hitting are how a monk would speak, vs how he really is (just like the opposing players). It's an interesting trope that comes up every once in a while: you imitate the opposite personality to show that you *could* do that, and then go back to your "normal," default role, to show that you're that way by choice, not just because you don't have other options. Tekachu and Hello Ketty are pretty groan-worthy. At 21:18, Yachi said the shark's name just fine ("Fuji-kujira"); I'm really not sure why the subtitles went to the scientific name just for that one moment. Speaking of names, though, it's kinda funny how the author called the team "Ougi Minami" (or Ougi South). There is a little district in Sendai called Ougi-machi, but it's really small and non-descript. But to invent a bunch of high school names, I think the author uses Ougi West, Ougi South, Ougi North, and so on. It's like.... 6 blocks in real life, haha. I guess, you work with what you got.

2023-03-22 21:49:16 +0000 UTCNow that you mentioned Hinata being terrifying, last week I read an explanation about it, a little extract: As a result of his past as a horror mangaka, Furudate incorporated the same feeling of fear into Karasuno's opponents that a victim would feel in a horror series, making some interactions quite literally cutthroat.

2023-03-22 21:35:53 +0000 UTCA couple of reactors think that the Tanaka Banana thing is a dirty jokes. But, I thought she meant it cuz it's an ape with a banana lol

2023-03-22 21:27:06 +0000 UTCI wish they had brought Towada back for a later match. I suppose it's minor spoilers that they don't (at least yet; I haven't read the manga), but I thought that was a missed opportunity.

2023-03-22 20:30:40 +0000 UTCDuring the date tech match, you made a joke along the lines of “oh great, I have to see this teams backstory”. With this team I kinda felt that way. It was a little forced, probably one of the only matches in the series I wasn’t a fan of.
