But at the same time, it also feels safe, because it takes "no upset" seriously as well. Also, the comedy gold of you going on about the wires before Anya even realized... Chef's kiss! I missed your wild summaries, too. Good to be back.

I was very much looking forward to Goodwin's response to the Handler's "learning of war" speech, and it did not disappoint. 🙂 It's frightening how politics in so many countries right now has devolved into blaming either immigrants or the opposition political party as the singular cause of complex problems that require cooperation to solve, and how often "defeat the bad guys!" or even "eliminate / kill the bad guys!" has become the rallying cry. Sometimes, I wish we would hear Handler's speech more often. Violence and hatred masquerading as easy solutions might benefit someone, but certainly not the people who are tricked into fighting for it. It was thought for many years that Japan would revert more to militarism as more of the generation that experienced Hiroshima and Nagasaki directly passed away. To the surprise of many sociologists, research has shown that the country's youth have become even *more* pacifistic than their predecessors. I personally think it's not an exaggeration to say that media reminding us of the horrors of war might be an important part of preventing future ones. Anyway.... my role is supposed to be language nerd comments: - Yor's line, "a passing housewife," (通りすがりの人妻, toori-sugari no hitozuma) is almost certainly a reference to Izumi Curtis's iconic self-introduction in Fullmetal Alchemist: 通りすがりの主婦, toori-sugari no shufu, just bumped up to be old-timey and extra polite, since that's how Yor speaks. - Almost certainly, Minister "Brantz" is a play on the way the country "France" is written in Japanese (仏国). The "East-West" conflict in Japan is famous as Kansai (Osaka/Kyoto) vs Kanto (Tokyo), but this dichotomy is also played up in a lot of other places, too, like France-Germany, Western Europe vs Eastern Europe, etc. So, "East-West" is just shorthand for yin-yang, Dodgers-Yankees, Dragons-Tigers, Oil-Water.

Still haven't seen Chainsaw Man episode 2 yet either, TOO MANY GOOD SHOWS. I am so conflicted on what to prioritize... all I know is this season of anime is gonna be remembered for a while... and I don't even watch Bleach!
