“Thanks for pointing out that obvious parallel that I missed, Megumi,” “He’s doping! Performance Enhancing Drugs? In Jujutsu Kaisen? Things just got real dark,” “Why does the enemy make walking look so cool?” “If I can’t capture details in an anime opening that I’ve seen, what, four or five times at this point, what the hell am I missing in life that’s right in front of my eyes?” “And as we all know from movies, when it comes to trained monsters or dinosaurs, nothing ever goes wrong. They’re always totally obedient,” “That is the enemy invading your tournament arc. As they do,” “Alright, Gakuganji, this is your chance to actually do something good,” (Gakuganji proceeds to whip out his epic electric guitar) “I like that this guy has appointed himself spokesman for the trees,” (Lorax confirmed) “To say that humans are against or a threat to nature draws an imaginary, and somewhat arbitrary line between humans and nature, as if humans are somehow outside of the natural world and ecosystem,” “If only people got me like you do, soil,”

Geneva The Weeba

I believe in either a fanbook, or an interview w/ the Mangaka; it was confirmed that Gakuganji was a huge Jimi Hendrix fan. Which I find hella based personally.

“We’re the same” “No we’re not” “Yes we are” “No we’re not” Poor Kamo, just wants a friend.

Olympic athletes would draw their blood during rest days when it was full of oxygen, and after competing in one sport, if they had another one right after they would let blood from their de-oxygenated system and put the oxygenated blood back in.

Michael Stollard

All hail the cute squidly overlord, Dagon

Jake White

I had totally forgotten about that. That makes it a lot more interesting, thanks :D

Yes, Hanami is a curse based on the manifestation of humans' fear of forests/nature. Mahito explained to Junpei that each of their group is based on long-standing fears. Jogo is a manifestation of humans' fears of the earth and all things rock (including volcano obviously), the red squid looking thing is the sea, and we know Mahito is humans. They basically said that these fears/hatred has existed for so long that the curses gained the level of intelligence we see in the four of them.

Travis

fyi the whole: “emerge from darkness, blacker than darkness. purify that which is impure” spiel is just the standard basic incantation that everyone has to use when putting up a veil. We’ve seen Ijichi and Mahito both say the same lines before theirs, too. Also yes, Hanami kind of IS the dedicated spokesperson for forests (or at least human’s projected fears of forests) considering the curse they are lol

Jake White

I knew you would have a great take on the Human hating villain, speaker for the trees. I have seen way to many people I know personally and other reactors agree or side with this villain and believe the exact opposite of the things you talked about.

Back when Mahito was speaking to Junpei about curses, he mentions that humans have always feared the earth, forests and oceans and due to the immense, culmulative and ancient fear they represent to humanity they gained wisdom before taking physical form and remained in hiding until now. It says this while showing the other 3 curses that hang out with Geto, showing that these are the curses that manifested from those ancient fears. So Jogo is the fear of the earth, and this curse is the fear of the forest.

Be wary of those whose eyes are forever closed for once they open them all hell breaks loose...or something...basically they bad ass and scary and 9 times out of 10 are evil....i swear i've said this better elsewhere.... its the worst twist the old man with the electric guitar i still hate it so much

Brimmy

hopefully he reaches the Liches level from Adventure time.

Neubaufahrzeug

BTW what they mean by "doping" is that he's manipulating his blood with his technique to enhance his physical state, similar to what performance enhancing drugs do. He's not literally using steroids haha

Rekway

It's funny I was thinking the same thing about posting episode 19 in comparison to this one (which is as far as I've seen at this moment).

Alex G

Best take

Rekway

Yeah don't places with high volcanic activity also have some of the most fertile soil?

Bighead

I was pretty dead set on not liking the old man principal, but it only took one frame of him shredding that sick axe, and now I'm wondering if Itadori even deserves to breathe.

MikeWest

This is a fun episode, but I honestly am super excited for the next two! My goodness!

Aura Y

I am obsessed with speech-based powers. You could also say that I am obsessed with Inumaki, HOWEVER, I just think speech powers are sick because your words are your weapons and it can only be limited by your creativity! In Inumaki's case, I believe he needs to train to build more cursed energy but it just goes to show how powerful he can become :)

Athena

lol the weirdness of the Juju Stroll. I guess it's establishing the connection between Jogo and Hanami?

Athena

no, if the next show is done by poll it most likely will be hunter x hunter. steins gate and haiykuu have a chance as well.

benj

next show god of highschool ?

Momo

My other favorite Miwa moment right here. Perfectly matched in sub and dub too. 😁
