In Spy X Family 1x9, Show Off How In Love You Are, Loid and Yor would have really blown this marriage proof thing, if Yuuri wasn't such a mess.

If you want a good philosophical debate series I hope someday you check out the Castlevania animated series on Netflix, it's peak Western Animation style IMO :D

“This kiss will just solve all the conflict. World peace,” “NO UPSET,” “I hope you can evaluate what’s happening here and how it’s not good,” “Battle outcome: Loid,” “Sometimes in conflict, that’s all people are really looking for is validation,” “We gotta practice kissing, though. Maybe that could be on the agenda for the evening,” “He’s reading comics. Noble pursuit,” “Waku waku indeed,” “Burned food is extra spice, it’s just an extra flavor,” “I wonder with what clarity Anya can see people’s memories. I guess it’s probably just concepts,” (Nah, she can see the images people think of too) “You’ll never fully know how many secrets are hidden from you,” “I would say he needs a girlfriend, but there’s just no room. In his life or his locker,” “It’s been a year already?” (Nah, they had the marriage backdated a year and are just keeping up appearances) “Those thoughts serve no function other than to deepen the hole,” “It’s what you do with struggle that defines virtue,”

Twilight’s handler definitely felt a disturbance in the force when he destroyed a perfectly good piece of spy equipment out of guilt

I can’t tell you how much joy it brought to my face seeing you start this reaction off with my Mike Tyson “now kith” meme joke from last week lol 💜

Jake White

I think he went the extra mile and learned to enjoy it.

Chris Sharpe

I 100% agree

Yuri has probably developed a tolerance for pain after years of backbreaking sisterly love from Yor.

Long post warning lol. Just some of my thoughts on things that I see people touch on in the fandom from time to time Loid is a spy from Westalis in Ostania, and Yor works as an assassin for Ostania, HOWEVER, they’re on the same side. They both want and work for peace. So they’re not necessarily foes, it’s mostly their countries that are. Yuri, however, works for the Ostanian government, while Yor seems more freelance. Yuri IS against Westalis, and Twilight, and WISE. And because he’s against Loid and his group, Loid has to be wary of the SSS. It’s because he knows he has an enemy in the SSS, and therefore Yuri, that he knows the ins and outs of what his adversaries are trained in. That way he’s able to identify Yuri as an agent. The same does not hold true for Yor. I’ve seen a lot of people say that Loid can figure out Yuri’s an SSS agent, but can’t figure out that his wife is an assassin, which somehow makes him stupid. All we know is that she is an assassin who works for Ostania (correct me if I’m wrong here) but at this point, I don’t even think we have the NAME of her organization. Apart from Yor herself, and Anya reading her thoughts, there have been no mentions of assassins. At all. Conversely, the SSS is widely known and feared by the citizens, not to mention the fact that they are in direct opposition to Twilight himself. Of course he would keep notes on his enemies. With Yor, it’s not as if her habits or employment have recently changed, seeing as she’s had the job since she was a child. Even if something HAD changed, Yuri is the only one who would know. He would never say anything damning about her. Additionally, in episode 2, Camilla heavily insinuates that Yor used to be a prostitute or sex worker with the ‘massage’ euphemism. Loid hears this, accepts it, praises her, and moves on. In his mind there is no suspicion to be had regarding her past or current occupation. Not to mention, Loid only bases his beliefs on what he can prove. Vague feelings about ‘maybe my wife is TOO strong/hot/perfect/kind’ aren’t going to factor into any suspicions he may foster. (This is also why he’s in constant denial about his familial attachments, but that’s for another day). After clearing Yor’s background check, and now making sure she has no ties to the SSS that she knows of, Loid is completely and utterly free to trust his wife and has no reason to suspect her. A woman who can take care of herself and Anya may very well come in handy as she well proved in the second episode running from Loid’s assailants. At this point Yor is free from all suspect and absolutely integral to the mission. Even if any suspicions WERE to arise, Loid would just. stay in denial. The man has enough to worry about that he’d overlook it, rationalize, or simply maintain plausible deniability so that his relationship with Yor need never become strained.

I whole heartedly enjoy your comments, please continue to bring me, along with others, joy lol

It is both terrifyingly vulnerable but also occasionally very rewarding to expect the best in people as Goodwin elegantly described. I don't know how to say this without sounding creepy, but Goodwin's life lessons really are like therapy, haha. I wish more people could see and reflect on them. My “contribution” (?) is superfluous language nerd comments: 17:35 You have no idea how happy it makes me when Goodwin / other people notice stuff like “Yor-kun.” Haha. But actually, that’s not quiiiite as weird as it sounds. Up until recently, -kun was a common title for subordinates at a workplace. Older people will still use -kun that way today sometimes. 1:25 On that note, small detail, but Loid had told Yuri that he called Yor just “Yor” (not Yor-san), a fact that traumatized Yuri. Throughout the whole evening up until that point, he consistently did so, but when she pushed him down into the couch to kiss him, Loid went “…Yor…-san?” From that point on, it was just ‘Yor-san,’ so we have to wait for them to get genuinely close enough for Loid to drop -san when he's not acting (...if that situation exists?). 4:10 “Are my failures that amusing to you?” I don’t like that subtitle. At that moment, Yuri is being surprisingly self-aware. He asks if Loid is amused by his ‘shuutai' (醜態, ‘disgraceful behavior’). It’s not that Yuri feels he “failed” so much as he’s embarrassed about coming off as less "elegant" than Loid. 8:40 Anya’s failed attempt to say ‘good morning’ is really endearing. She says “Ohayaimasu” (instead of ‘Ohayou gozaimasu.’ Yor gives the textbook example a little later). Anya’s subtitles say “Morning, pwease,” but she’s not asking for anything. Basically, when the subtitles have Anya saying inappropriate “please,” it doesn't mean she's being greedy. It's just showing how Anya’s Japanese is sometimes a little… inelegant. 14:37 Sometimes the English almost works better than the Japanese, haha, and it’s usually because of word order differences like these: Yuri’s line is “I think… he was… a good guy.” In English, we’re held in suspense until the very end, which is cool. In Japanese, that part is spoiled right away—“good guy” (ii yatsu) is the first word—we’re only hanging on to see how he hedges that, which is ‘…ki ga shimasu,’ “I feel like (maybe)” = he’s still non-committal / not fully admitting it. ---- Last: 2:22 “Why did I knew that was coming?” … "did I knew"? So... Goodwin speaks a different dialect of English than I do, I guess, haha. Given, I'm Canadian, but still. 😉

“Here I come darling”

Quick correction, they haven’t been together for a year, but their marriage certificate says that they have, so it’s just an excuse to get a celebratory cake and feel like a family. Another little detail, as I said in the last video, Loid was reading the first volume of Spy Wars with Anya just before Yuri arrived (which was at night and kinda late, as Anya couldn’t stay up). When it showed Loid staying up at night in this episode, he was on volume 12. So he basically blasted through Spy Wars in one night just to help Anya study. I also kinda like how the Secret Police just kinda seem like normal people, not some evil organization. They arrest people for suspicion of being spies, but it has shown to be very effective, so I don’t think they just throw innocent people in jail.

Chris Sharpe

This episode really epitomizes what I appreciate from this show. The meaning of family and relationships, how to become a better version of one's self. Even if Yor or Loid don't recognize their growing bond between each other, I'm happy to see further growth and connections. Very "No Upset" Vibes!

Wishing you the best with your time in the Philippines!

Between Yor looking as attractive as ever moving for that kiss, Yuri’s rather unhealthy but humorous love for his sister, Anya’s reactions, what’s not to love about this anime? Like seriously. NTM, the sheer epicness of that slap.

I'm having a bit of an issue with YouTube. Since I am now posting from the Philippines, Google is asking me to verify my identity. But the phone that it's asking me to use was lost in another island mishap. It looks like I will be able to use this new phone for verification purposes after it's been associated with my google account for 7 days, which is not far off. Apologies for the inconvenience and the anime betrayal.
