“As we all know, there’s nothing more important to the high school brain than a rule,” “There’s a way to have both, you know, there’s a way to approach the things you want openly and honestly without the risk of taking damage just because you’re basically resolute in who you are and how you feel about yourself,” “Being honest doesn’t make you weak or needy; being weak or needy makes you weak or needy,” “Censored?! Now I really wanna read it,” “Children, please,” “Nothing says high class like wieners,” “Who would have thought to eat soup AND rice?” “She just. lost her face entirely. Faceless,” “There’s a fried phoenix rising from her bento box. I give it a 4 out of 10. Minus 6 points for no wieners,” “And blimp. Because why not. Just riding my blimp, you know, as normal people do. Lookin’ down at the plebs. “Falling out of a blimp. Is this what love feels like?” (Also, Goodwin, the amount of times you said the word blimp was so funny) “To need anything at all is, in some sense, a compromised state,” “The thing you most need is not contained in the thing itself, but in the lessons you learn from that thing,”

“Oh a confession, huh? Those always go well,” “Love or positive regard of a similar variety is something you, the giver, benefit from giving,” “Loving someone else is an extension of loving yourself,” “Wow trip-*quadruple* take. That’s intense,”/ “That was the last equal thing they had in their relationship,” (weapons)“That could all be a metaphor,” “Yes, nothing could be cooler than being good in school,” “In true Yuki-Fruits-Basket-style-,” “A plebian! That’s one of my favorite words. in this universe,” “Maybe she’s not as innocent as she appears,” “Who’s that guy with his back turned?” “~Ara ara~,” “The plebians are going to eat your lunch by being halfway-decent people because they’re working hard on themselves while you’re resting on your *very weird* laurels,” “Why is she going on a date with a piece of grass?” “The RISK game continues,” “That’s weak. That’s super weak. You look like such a scrub,”

Geneva The Weeba

He has done it two or three times now, he did it during Demon Slayer recently.

benj

Not gonna lie, I did not ever expect Goodwin to say "ara ara" in a video

The Mob Psycho 100 dub in my opinion felt very close to original voices in delivery which is one reason why it's one of my favourite dubs and I can always recommend it. I think the Kaguya dub is also good, but personally I think the voice acting choices give a different (not necessarily worse or better, just different) feeling and intention to the scenes and dialogue.

Riri

Yeah the only thing that finally got me to confess to someone was the fact that they were going to be moving really far away and it was my last chance to tell them how i felt. Though i didn't even expect anything to come of it. I at that point just wanted to give them an explanation as to why i was so much sader at the news of their leaving than everyone else despite not even being that close of freinds.

Silent Shadow

The dub is so much better. I don't normally recommend the dub, but i do for this and mob

Konan

Pretty much just Loid and Yor when they were kids.

Laggy

Got it! Thanks for the heads up

Alex G

I did miss that! That's a pretty big detail.

Based on this first episode alone, Kaguya and the President seem to have many things in common: extreme stubbornness, incredible intelligence, big egos, and being very in love with each other. The fear of rejection is far too great for this couple of inflated egos so they go to hilariously great lengths to avoid confession, but the underlying motivation of the outrageousness is so heartfelt it makes it all comedy gold. Also VERY important heads up for you: Make sure to watch the Episode 3 ending credits in its entirety and react to it. It's the greatest thing to ever exist ever, and we require your reaction to it.

benj

eh i disagree, i really love the use of the narrator in this episode, and he doesnt go anywhere he is a staple of the entire show

benj

yes, narrator voice actor is absolutely hilarious

benj

The narrator is mvp

SilverFang95

I had forgotten that the 1st episode was... not the best. The narrator really overexplained things to an annoying degree. I promise it gets better!

thegreatquack

It's kinda funny when you mentioned "Yuki from Fruits Basket" while this guy's name is "Miyuki" lol By the way, you watched Fruits Basket dubbed, but Miyuki has the same VA as sub Haru

Kei

I want a pity wiener

daniel kurtz

When the Rom-Com is more Com than Rom but you take the Rom extremely seriously XD ....Did goodwin just Ara Ara? XD need that as a sound bite or something XD never watched the ED till now but was that a Ghibli reference with the planes? I'm so glad i can finally watch something from you that I've seen \o/ one day i'll catch up it will be spectacular

Brimmy

They obviously can't confess to one another because they are plebs themselves lol I find it so interesting that Japan has this culture around love confessions because I feel as though, in America, we don't emphasize pouring your feelings out to someone you just have a crush on. They even confess to people they might not even know which is insane to me (and my anxiety)

Athena

This isn’t really a spoiler, but Shirogane is one of the few students who isn’t high class. He said how his grandfather lived in the countryside and he is naturally stingy.

Chris Sharpe

Not to even mention the anticipation in waiting for this week’s SxF reaction cause today’s episode was soooooo damn good lol

Jake White

And now begins the impatient countdown until DS drops lol

Jake White

Glad you're starting this show, the anime and manga is one of my all-time favorites. The cast is great, and the characters really begin to open up as the show progresses. Love the openings as well, they're all made by Japan's "King of Love Songs" Masayuki Suzuki! Apologies if you did realize it (or maybe confusion from subtitles?) but Shirogane doesn't come from money, and got into the school and his position solely through his grades. This is shown with his stinginess and how defensive he was of his home-made lunch :)

Riri

9anime.to got it all with no ads

benj

Literally Death Note, but with confessions. I really need to get to watching season 2 and 3, where can I watch them without paying? I don’t mind watching ads.

Chris Sharpe

the curse of goodwin using “other” ways to download these shows lmao

benj

Confessing your love to someone else is one of the hardest things people do in their entire life. Kaguya-Sama: Love is War grabs this very relatable fear and takes it to its absolute extreme. This is a true psychological fight to the death, will the wealthy prodigy of an important family or workaholic straight-A student win? Growing up is just as hard as confessing your love, and it's clear that Kaguya and Miyuki have a lot of complicated emotions to go through in order to get to that point.

benj

subtitles are a little off i think

DefaultGoblin

Not the pity wieners lol

Athena

First couple episodes are very narrator-driven to kinda set the stage for the characters. Once the characters themselves start controlling the pace of the story, this anime really shines. Hope you enjoy

Deiondre0

Goodwin already making assumptions based on that description lol
