I like that when yuki got injured ayame and Haru were instantly by his side, wearing white. Yuki’s literal white knights. But forreal harus love for yuki is so nice, he’s such a amazing attentive friend. And ayame finally got a chance for his big brother moment

Yet again blown away

The parallels between Machi and Yuki's childhoods

Machi likes red and yuki is the red ranger in the student council :3 Also if you notice in S2 ep. 4 I think, yuki was reflected on the shattered window glass and now it’s Machi reflected on the shattered mirror

Stephanie

When I first learned about what Ayame wanted, I wondered if maybe that was leading to an eventual confrontation with Akito. And that would have been interesting in this scene. But thinking about it more I feel like Yuki is strong enough that actually he doesn't need rescuing the way he once did. These wounds are just superficial scratches. And maybe a big part of the fact that he is now so resilient is the parent teacher episode that Ayame played such a pivotal role in. So I think he already has done a lot for Yuki in the way he wanted, and was also there in this scene to care for him, even if it didn't mean directly confronting Akito.

I think Machi noticing Yukis trauma and breaking him out of the closet in 2x20 was meant to counter the whole "fixing" narrative

I was waiting to see what your reaction to the next Akito glass-light incident would be. And I wasn't disappointed! I think Ayame would have kicked off that Zodiac war if Akito hadn't left the room.

I'm actually upset they adapted the Machi stuff now. First, because most of her interactions with Yuki in season 3 were cut down. Second, because I feel lik it ruins the end of season 2. I don't like cliffhanger as the end of a season. It's artificial, just to create tension. Especially when season 3 is so short. It's kinda like the original akime adpated Yuki visiting Ayame's shop just before the Kyo stuff yet still making an end to the series. Like, it was all for nothing. Anyway, I love the events takes separitely. Machi loving red when it's Yuki's color on the squad, her messy room just like his is, even if it's almost not shown... And there is the banquet. Yuki growing, Akito's outburst, Hatori smile...

Season 2 is GENUINELY the Yuki season, so I'm incredibly happy that you consistently give him the credit he so deserves

If you didn't know already, Yuki's name means "snow". That becomes relevant later in terms of symbolism.

Akito's idea of what it means to be the zodiac god has to be shattering like the glass - not only did Yuki straight up make Akito's influence over him seem irrelevant but after the Water Pitcher Incident, all the fuss was over Yuki, with only Kureno herding the nasty glass-wielder away. Yuki wasn't even all that upset - a real power move to shrug off Akito's anger like that. That quick flash of memory Akito had before losing it - younger Kureno crying - seemed important. Keep wishing for change to happen, Tohru. God-soup is starting to bubble - we need it to boil over and make a big mess. Like Machi's room :) which may or may not contain more maple leaves that are meanless except when they aren't because you know - she shoves them in a book or whatever.

"But I just want to see what the world looks like through your eyes, Machi." Everyone just needs that single person who truly cares 😭 This line hit super hard.

Yuki had tussle with Machi and kakeru in his episode...my boy has grown up!!!

raesh

Indeed :D

Alex G

Yeah it's not really what the show is doing, it just makes me reflect on personal experience

Alex G

I think it's just me showing my age since it's been a while since I've been in high school. I just assumed everyone just gets phones starting at age 2 now

Alex G

That is a pretty amazing haul

Alex G

She parallels Yuki a lot in that regard, even down to them both having super messy bedrooms

Francesca White

God I'm so excited for the next ep its gonna be \t h r i l l i n g\

Brimmy

Tohru hitting Kyo with her pompom is the cutest thing I have ever seen. They do a really interesting job portraying depression with Machi and the way she sees herself as a void with nothing inside her. The messy apartment is a key detail as well.

benj

The funny thing to me is when Yuki leaned on Tohru, you said there was a danger there, but then he ran off and did something amazing. Now Yuki is doing the same for Machi and you're saying there's a danger again 😂 though I do agree there is a danger, but I think it's just funny how it played out that way

Francesca White

"This show showing its age: back in a time when people didn't have cell phones" I don't know, man. I didn't have a phone for the first two years of American high school. That corresponds pretty well with Machi's first year at Japanese high school. Or. or am *I* the crazy one here?

Geneva The Weeba

Machi likes Red!!!❤❤❤

raesh

I swapped Christmas presents with my friends today and got: A Tohru plush! A second Tohru plush! (it's different lol) 5 pairs of socks featuring: Kyo, Yuki, Tohru, Ayame, and Shigure And a Yuki pin (that he can use to defend against Akito's glass/vase attack, of course)

Geneva The Weeba

Yuki! The audacity! Never stand up to Akito when there's breakables around
