July Q&A and Catchup video

I highly recommend therapy. You will be surprised by what you learn about yourself. Maybe you could even track down where this fear comes from. Also, motivation is bullshit in my opinion. It is different from discipline. Discipline is important and much more better than motivation.

Yusuf

I have no motivation or anything that gets me pumped up, closest thing to that would be a deep fear when considering such things. I don't want anything. I've kinda accepted my eventual downfall.

Kamolak

Shoot I didn’t mean to fill my head with all these intrinsic thoughts right before bed.

I just finished mob psycho 100 season 1 and I get the hype now. It is both visually stunning and phenomenal from a storytelling perspective. just so much fun I think Mob Psycho 100 is one of the shows he's said he plans on watching eventually, though I could be wrong

Nick

young justice, psycho pass, Mob Psycho 100, OPM, etc

Kamolak

very depressing situation over there but if the Afghan people want the US out than we should leave. they hate us over there.

benj

Well it will definitely be an interesting month with Afghanistan falling completely to the Taliban.

Yusuf

YOung justice!! one piece has amazing character, dream, adventure, themes

Burooj Ahanger

Oh also Re:Zero.

FiioArt

March Comes in like a Lion is a really great character focused anime.

FiioArt

Hello can i ask if theres a way I can send art related things for you digitally?

Orl

The heartbreak conversation reminded me a lot of the fig tree metaphor from The Bell Jar. In it, Sylvia Plath writes of a large fig tree with numerous branches, each raw fig offering a different life path and opportunities. Sometimes, I think heartbreaks hurt so tremendously because they represent a pruning of a different future. The life you imagined with that person is gone, now, and in its place, an emptiness emerges. It's difficult to imagine something growing in its place, something equally worthwhile. Sometimes it's difficult to see the other branches, the more ripe figs, and better opportunities, but they are there. They always have been. Thank you for the video. It was a lovely pretend-conversation.

Kingsley

These videos are pure gold. Awesome to here that things are going well so far in Korea in more ways than one!

benj

So happy for you, man!

Aray YIKAMACI

Thanks for another great update Alex.

Grace

21:30 "The common thread is that we recognize each other's humanity first." That's beautiful. Never lose that, Alex.

The best way I can describe Chainsaw Man quickly and without spoilers is: "Guy hunts devils, grows chainsaws, wants girlfriend, commentary on gun distribution, popular media coverage, corporate wage slave culture, batshit crazy, what it means to have a heart and more." When it gets adapted by MAPPA I really hope it takes off more because the manga is truly stellar. Edit: I would also say confronting your demons is another descriptor for some parts. Be cool to get a trailer reaction on the channel actually! That would probably also get views

Nick

Happy to hear you are planning to watching Fruits Basket as it's definitely the one I'm personally most interested in seeing, watching it for the first time with you seems like a lot of fun.

Kiwi

You could watch chainsaw man as something to boost your channel growth. It’ll be around the same level as Aot s4 part 2 in popularity and the manga is already very well established in the anime community around the world. It’s also not just any random battle shonen without substance and is quite dark with some amazing character development throughout the story. Just something for you to consider before it starts airing.

I'm glad. I felt really bad that so much time passed between you asking and this video coming out!

Alex G

YES! MHA vigilantes is super underrated. I definitely would love for him to look at this manga for the extra Sunday videos.

Ned

Holy cow man. Thanks for that solid advice. I'm definitely in a lot better place. I almost forgot I even asked that question lmao. But the advice was killer. Thank you

Nick Deano

\o/ yes that train scene o.o my god "Deeper elements of MHA you'd like to see?" I feel like what ur asking for might be what the manga My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is?? Oh my brother wrote a letter after one of his break ups...shame it was back when i was in my own little world ignoring everything so idk if he ever sent it to her "I couldn't be bothered" me when i was 16 till now (am 30 now) but now i am bothered and need to do it dfkjgndflkgn Stay Hydrated!

Brimmy

Thank you! I'm very glad to hear that

Update: Really resonated with the talk starting at 8:29. I have had a goal of creating my own cartoon for a few years now, and in the past have definitely gotten frustrated when things didn't go my way. But, like you said it's more valuable to use that final goal as a guide if that makes sense? Idk. Not everything happens at once, and it's nice to be able to understand that more lately. I don't get as stressed out, thinking I need to have everything nailed down day 1. The talk about heartbreak also hit me hard, but mainly the part about doing bad things and changing vs continuing. For me, not in the context of a relationship but moreso with friends. As dumb as it is in retrospect, it took me a while to realize that beating myself up wasn't going to fix my problems. Also, have you ever considered releasing these updates to YouTube months after? They might be outdated, but they do have a lot of great answers in them.

Nick

Appreciate the very insightful and honest Q&A videos each month! As a person who shares quite a few of the struggles as the other commenters, I appreciate the advice and personal experiences that were shared. I'm always striving to self-improve, even if I struggle to maintain the growth, but I think a lot of your videos push me to become better. So thanks for all the great content! Best of luck on your international life journey!

Aura Y

Your story about deciding to speed it up and go to Korea like that is pretty inspiring. I've been thinking about taking a long road trip on my own, since graduating. Always wanted to do that, but never felt like I could. Your update videos are uplifting in that way, because it goes to show that it's possible. Even though the stakes of taking a road trip versus flying to a different country are pretty different lol I haven't finished this update video yet but the opening part struck a chord
