ONE. THOUSAND. PATRONS!!! Future plans and reflections on the journey so far
Added 2021-04-12 06:56:33 +0000 UTCI can’t go any farther in this post without saying the biggest imaginable THANK YOU to all of you for the support. When I say that it is you guys make this possible, that is not an exaggeration. You allow me to pour my heart into this and do it full time.
But it’s so much more than that to me. The kindness, the generosity, the words of encouragement, the discussions, the insightful and hilarious comments, the private messages about ways in which videos have been helpful/useful/entertaining mean more to me than I could ever say and have significantly and irreversibly changed my OUTLOOK ON HUMANITY (still not exaggerating). One thousand patrons might seem like a modest achievement to some, but to me it’s everything because of what it symbolizes.
I thought that for this post I would write some of my reflections on my experience doing YouTube and Patreon so far in the tiny hope that it can provide value to others (for those who are interested), as well as detail the plan going forward and what this changes for the future.
PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
The 1,000 Patron milestone has been hit, and the aim was 2 videos a day every day. In the run-up to 1,000, I’ve gotten a lot of comments and private messages to the effect of, “are you really going to do 2 videos a day?” and “Please don’t burn yourself out.”
I’ve given it a lot of thought, because it is my nature to WANT to rise to the challenge and to deliver, and my biggest fear is being deceitful or letting anyone down.
The truth is it would be extremely difficult to DOUBLE my video output right away, as I am stretched somewhat thin as it is. Another consideration is that I’m not sure how many people even WANT me to double the content, because that would be A LOT to keep up with. Yet it is very important to me to acknowledge this amazing milestone and to express my gratitude, even in some small way.
So what I have decided is this: I will work towards daily double videos gradually, scaling up over time depending on how things go and how much work I can begin to outsource. In the meantime, I will be doing as many extras as time/resources permit. These will be uploaded randomly and mostly without announcement.
For these extra videos, I think it would be a good idea to do things OTHER than the main series I am watching so that you guys can choose if you want to watch them or not without having to worry about missing out on the main series. For example, a week or so ago I did the Ilse’s Notebook OVA in addition to the regularly scheduled AOT episode reaction. I am thinking it will be that kind of thing as well as additional, shorter series that I can watch in short stretches when I have time.
My goal is to deliver as much as possible as a thank you for all of the amazing support, while also keeping things flexible enough that I can take care of myself and feel things out as I go in the process. I’m hoping this will be a compromise that provides value while also keeping things manageable and healthy for me.
To that effect, I am always happy to take recommendations for shorter or one-off things that you would like me to react to. As a first step, expect the No Regrets OVA this coming week, and a surprise series coming sometime soon :)
REFLECTIONS ON YOUTUBE AND PATREON
1. Believe in your dreams?
Here’s a weird thing for me to think about: I never believed this was possible. The entire time I did YouTube, I never really thought it would go anywhere. I hoped it would, but I couldn’t even imagine what success would look like. Also, as happy as I am with my current state of life now, I never envisioned it in any level of detail, or aimed for it specifically.
This is totally different and in some ways contradictory to the messages I heard my whole life:
- “Believe in yourself and you will succeed”
- “Follow your dreams”
- “Figure out what you want and go for it.”
- “Find your purpose.”
I’ve come to believe that there is something backward about the messages we receive about dreams and success.
- Self-confidence is not (in my experience) something that can be generated internally out of a vacuum, nor is it an essential ingredient for success.
- Detailed dreams will always be incomplete because our specific vision is only half of the equation (the other half is the world/reality).
- It is nearly impossible to know exactly what we really want for ourselves without experience.
- The journey is never over because dreams always give way to new dreams.
I always thought the order of events was something like…
Feelings -> Actions -> Results
...I now think it is more like…
Actions -> Results -> Feelings
For YouTube, I just started on a whim (not the whole truth but that’s a long story). And I enjoyed the process, and so I kept going. I worked daily: learning new things, improving gradually, experimenting, listening to feedback, etc. And it was nothing for a very long time, until suddenly it was something. At no point before it was something did I ever truly believe it could be something.
While this may seem basic, to me this partially addresses a bunch of confusing questions I struggled with for a long time:
Q: How do I figure out my dreams?
A: You don’t. Maybe some people do, but I think they are actually an exception; It’s not a workable strategy. Go out into the world and do stuff, don’t be afraid to sacrifice (more on this below), and your dreams hopefully shape themselves.
Q: Where do I start?
A: Start by solving a problem for yourself. This could be based on something you really dislike, something you want to avoid in life, or something you’re frustrated by not having. Or follow a whim that feels good to follow (as long as you’re keeping yourself safe and healthy). When I started doing YouTube, I quickly realized that I couldn't imagine NOT doing it, and that was a sign to me that I was following the right whim. But I didn't know it was the right thing until I started.
Q: How do I believe in myself?
A: You don’t need to. That is a byproduct of the thing, not the thing itself.
Q: What is my purpose?
A: Maybe “living a satisfying and enriching life” is as specific as it needs to be for now. So what does a satisfying and enriching life look like?
2. Advice is incomplete / Nothing happens without sacrifice
When people give advice, they often mean well, but they are basing it on what they have seen and what they know. But when you think about it, the world is probably way more “UNKNOWN BUT POSSIBLE” than “KNOWN AND ALREADY EXISTS.” And so this framework for the world is limiting.
To this day, when I talk about YouTube/Patreon, my family members and some friends say things like, “maybe you can leverage this into a great job one day.”
To me this is (mostly) hilarious, because I can’t imagine why that would be my goal. It seems to me that these comments come from a view of the world based solely on what is familiar.
By saying this, I don’t mean to put down any particular way of life or conventional knowledge. I’ve had jobs I loved, and I think the right job for the right person can be the perfect fit and can provide immeasurable value to the world. And conventional wisdom exists for a very good reason. I mean to point out that other options exist that are not reflected in daily conversation or everyday experience. And those pursuits will often be looked down upon at first until they actually bear fruit, in which case that gets reversed and they become the subject of admiration.
While using the default view of life and occupations as a sort of "home-base" for conducting our lives is healthy and useful, that should not be the end of the thought because many exceptional things happen at the margins.
I had this thought for the first time after spending time abroad. I constantly experience friends who complain about their job, their rent, subway delays (a staple of NYC complaints), etc. I always love to suggest teaching English abroad as a way to shake things up and solve some of those problems, but the answer is always “I can’t.” And the reason for that is not because they actually can’t, or that they wouldn’t enjoy it, or because it wouldn’t be good for them, but because it’s WEIRD and they would have to sacrifice the life they have now, and few are willing to trade what they have for what could be, especially when they know their decisions will not be understood by those around them.
3. The internet is full of great people / hate is weak
This is a tough one. Internet hate is a real thing to be sure. It’s very easy to launch attacks at people when you would never dare to do so in real life. Miscommunications abound, due largely to a lack of facial expressions and vocal tones.
But my experience doing YouTube and Patreon has proven to me without a shadow of a doubt that actually, people on the internet are awesome. Or at least it's proved that awesome people exist in huge numbers (more than 1,000 confirmed), and will be active when the right space exists for that.
I think it’s really easy to get cynical when dealing with large groups of people. Negative examples tend to stand out more, and the people who would say negative things are probably a lot less hesitant to post comments than people who are generally thoughtful. And so it’s easy to get put off on the internet by focusing on the negative examples and extrapolating that broadly across the population.
I always know when my videos are doing better than normal because I get a higher rate of comments that might be considered negative. This happens because YouTube is pushing videos to new audiences who have the potential to dislike my content. My first instinct is usually to react harshly, but I rarely do, because my next thought is “they’re probably very young,” followed by, “maybe they’re having a hard time right now,” which neutralizes my desire to react negatively.
Furthering this sympathetic outlook for me is that, in my experience, people who are angry or hateful lack conviction. They will wait to kick you when you’re down but will hate silently when you are doing well. Before I started doing reaction videos I had a few very dedicated haters, but they would only comment when a video did really poorly or did not have many supportive comments.
These days my videos get a lot of support and amazing comments, and while I do get the occasional hate comment, people rarely stick around to continue being hateful long term. However, I know if the channel ever takes a significant dive, they will resurface immediately. But for reasons I can’t fully explain this is comforting and the threat is removed. Additionally, I’ve noticed that by engaging with everyone in the same steady manner without hate, I’ve seen people start out posting hate comments only to stick around and slowly transform into leaving really fun, great, insightful comments.
I think that negativity is often a reflection of what someone is going through and so it does not need to be a big deal or a threat (even if it can feel that way sometimes).
More importantly, in the past, sometimes hate was a sign that I was doing something wrong. My first reaction video has a like-dislike ratio of something like 1:5, and I still get hate comments on it 1 year later. But that’s because the video is terrible and I am totally disingenuous in it. And so that was a useful lesson for me. The proof of that is that I am still doing reaction videos and hate comments have almost entirely disappeared. Part of that was me really thinking about who I am and who I want to be, and slowly trying to be more authentic, do less of a persona, and provide more value.
And since then I’ve been blown away by the quality of people I “meet” along the way. I truly feel lucky to have found such an incredible community who I feel gives me more wisdom and value than I could ever hope to provide. My goal will be to always focus on that feeling and use it as a safeguard against cynicism towards others, no matter what negative examples I come across, and instead focus on my hope and belief in the goodness of my fellow human internet user :D
4. Specific advice for YouTube
I’m not a huge creator by just about any metric, but I hope to still be able to provide some insight and help anyone who is interested in the platform to avoid some of the most common pitfalls.
First of all, the framework we’ve been taught for YouTube is almost entirely wrong.
YouTube creators and viewers alike place A LOT of emphasis on subscribers. But when you really get down to it, that is by far THE LEAST IMPORTANT METRIC on the platform.
The subscriber-focused approach is a vestige of an older YouTube ecosystem where it actually meant something. The truth is that as a viewer, unless you are operating from your subscriptions feed, YouTube is going to show you whatever they want to show you, and they are going to base their choices on what THEY THINK you want to watch, not what you actually want to watch. Recommendations are going to be chosen based more on quantity of views and what you have previously watched than on what you have subscribed to. And so there are a lot of extremely frustrated creators who actually make great videos who gain no traction.
The truth is, subscribing is one of the LAST steps in the chain. The chain actually looks something like this (usually):
- The user performs a search (or sees a recommendation, but this is still based largely on previous searches)
- The user sees thumbnails
- The user clicks a thumbnail
- The user watches the video
- The user decides what to do next (like, subscribe, follow a link, watch another video, etc.)
Looking at it in this way, a useful starting strategy becomes clearer:
- Make videos about things people are searching for in high volume
- Have eye-catching thumbnails
- Do your best to make your videos enjoyable/useful/entertaining
Some people would see this search-volume strategy as “selling out,” but I think the idea is to get an audience and then adapt to your own tastes as you go. As I said above, dreams are not just your vision, they are where your vision meets reality.
A common and related pitfall is never changing, never improving, never adapting, and instead blaming YouTube, other people, or the world.
There is of course another way to gain traction on YouTube which is perhaps more difficult, and that is to make truly groundbreaking content for which there is high interest and no substitute. I am a big fan of Caleb City, and I always think of him as an example of this approach. He makes videos with titles like “Walking with people that got longer legs than you.” Who is searching for that? Nobody. But it’s so good it gets shared a lot and people stick around to watch all his content.
CLOSING
Wow, I unintentionally wrote a book. I apologize if this was an information overload.
Long story short, thank you for creating this amazing space, for all the love, support, kindness, knowledge, insight, guidance, and general awesomeness.
Words can’t adequately capture my gratitude, so for now it is no exaggeration to say that I love you guys!

i loved this "Negative examples tend to stand out more, and the people who would say negative things are probably a lot less hesitant to post comments than people who are generally thoughtful. And so it’s easy to get put off on the internet by focusing on the negative examples and extrapolating that broadly across the population." In oct 2019, Chile had some massive protests and stuff, and twitter was very harsh, politized, destructive, etc., so, talking to my mother about this (politics, twitter, etc) and us, being on different sides of the politic spectrum, she said "These criminals, all they want is to kill the president and destroy everything!" and i noticed, she wasnt wrong, its hard to not think that way when you see a bunch of people tweeting all the day about destruction... myself used to think the same about her side, but i also noticed that all those hateful comments came always from the same people, and since their comments are so harsh and strong, they are louder... and that was very surprising actually i felt relieved, i still tend to get mad at people on the internet but then i remember that, 99% of ppl just keep scrolling and never comment, humanity is actually pretty cool \o/
2021-05-23 03:03:50 +0000 UTCThis is so great and exciting for us! I loved reading this post, lots of cool information you share and awesome insights (as per usual). Honestly after reading this I'm convinced I would love to read your book when you inevitably write it ;)

2021-04-14 04:31:28 +0000 UTCI’m really happy how far you have come Alex. Watching your reaction videos have kept me entertained but also have opened my mind a bit more, especially when you get very insightful in your reactions. Also the whole YouTube part got to me. I have been thinking about doing YouTube for a while but I don’t have any hope that it will go anywhere but I’m still gonna try anyways. Keep up the videos Goodwin. Can’t wait for the next AOT video!

2021-04-13 00:31:02 +0000 UTCCongrats on making it to 1,000! It's been a great time keeping up, and I hope this journey keeps going the way it seems to be. You've been a great pleasure to watch, and a needed distraction in these times. I can proudly say that I've been here form day 1, and I'll likely be here on day 1,000 and beyond.

2021-04-13 00:22:31 +0000 UTC+1 for Over the Garden Wall. I don't know if it would ever make it onto the main polls (let alone win), but it's worth checking out at least -- for Alex or anyone else reading this.

2021-04-12 23:07:14 +0000 UTCThis is amazing. Thanks for posting all of this. That's what we're here for after all! I watched a bunch of other reactors, but with your vids I was like "you know what, I'd like to hear more from this guy, actually" and became a first-time patron. I was not disappointed. Also, I love just reading everyone's comments in this community, it feels a little more tighter knit than Youtube.

2021-04-12 23:04:39 +0000 UTCI love that you're pushing The Good Place every time lol hopefully one day 🤞

2021-04-12 22:58:43 +0000 UTCBro 1000 already?!?! I was with you from the jump and I know you’re going to continue to crush your milestones. Keep the advise coming, we all need it.

2021-04-12 21:53:34 +0000 UTCcongrats man, you deserve it!! i am SO grateful that i’ve found your channel and not only have i been able to re-enjoy good media with you but that i’ve found myself challenged and affirmed and uplifted by your insights and kindness throughout it all. i am currently in a bit of an undesirable life situation, but i think that’s one of the things that made me love your content so much and so quickly, because a lot of what you’ve said about success and fulfillment and the pursuit of dreams directly relates to things in my own life that i’ve been working through in my pursuit of a more fully realized life. so thank you :) as for short series, i’d recommend over the garden wall. it’s a miniseries with ten 10-12 minute episodes and it’s spooky and fun and layered with TONS of allegory.

2021-04-12 18:50:17 +0000 UTC1000 Patrons! Awesome dude, so happy for you! Thanks for all the great content you make and insight you bring into our lives. You certainly deserve it! I loved reading your thoughts on dreams and goals as these are all things I myself am discovering too. I am about to be done college with an Advanced Diploma in Game Development in less than two weeks and so my journey to find myself really begins and I am very excited if not a little frightened. But I know that my life is good, and I have a lot of good people in it that will support me, so if all else fails I know I can change, adapt, and learn. I'm looking forward to see what life outside of school brings me!

2021-04-12 18:03:42 +0000 UTCI found you when you were watching Avatar for the first time and I subscribed because even though it was a kids show you still took it seriously, at least, seriously enough to actually see the messages and themes in the show. I subscribed because you have alot to offer, not only to the world, but, also, to me as an individual. You have a wisdom that comes from experience and you have a talent for voicing that wisdom in a way that gives gravity to the wsidom dispensed and makes me want to listen and learn and absorb. I started working on myself as a person and trying to identify and minimize my biggest flaws so I could be a better person and then the universe recommended you lol so much apreesh for the personal growth and lessons. I subscribed to your patreon so I could have unfiltered access to your stream on consciousness thoughts when you watch a show. I stay because I feel like you're important as a person and leaving would feel like turning my back on a great opportunity to discover more about both myself and the world. TL;DR Love your content my guy lol

2021-04-12 17:21:05 +0000 UTCWhat a great read, may sound weird but I basically read this whole thing in my head with your voice saying the words lmao. I think I've been a Patron since the 30-40 patron mark on the first Korra full reaction, this is also the first and still only time I have ever subscribed to anyone on patreon. I remember looking at that 1,000 patron 2 video a day goal the first day I subscribed to the page and thought "that'd be crazy if we hit 1k and got 2 vids a day, never gonna happen though". The ratio from free Youtube views to people willing to actually pay for extra content from you is INCREDIBLE. 18,000 YT subscribers that 1,000 of which are also patreon members is definitely an absurd ratio at least from what I think. The value in your content is unmatched.

2021-04-12 17:00:24 +0000 UTCYou're like the most insightful and wise person I've come across, man, on or off YouTube. I don't know if having that level of both objectivity and introspection is something inherent or if it's a learned skill, but even then your eloquence when you talk about this stuff is incredible. Congrats on 1000! And as far as short series, INFINITY TRAIN! It's amazing, and it's super short. Three seasons (4th on the way), ten eps each, 11 minute eps. You could knock out season 1 in a single sitting, easy.

2021-04-12 15:04:25 +0000 UTCCongratulations on 1,000! You honestly deserve it. Thank you so much for the hard work you put just so we can all enjoy watching things together. Thank you for even sharing your opinions and thoughts with us. And I cant wait to see more of your content! 😁

2021-04-12 12:41:53 +0000 UTCYou earned those patrons! Congratulations Goodwin! I enjoyed what you said about cynicism. I have a tough time understanding people but that is because I have a tough time regulating myself and cynicism seeps through. As you said, this community being awesome is proof that the internet has great people! You have a healthy attitude towards haters. In saying that, I don't think I have seen any hate comments. However, I watch your videos on Patreon so maybe they are on your youtube channel. Hate is weak. Hating others for no good reason is reflecting of their inner relationship with themselves. We view the world through projection, so it makes sense imo! Personally, I catch myself doing the same when jealousy and envy strikes. Ugliest and most pathetic emotions (flashbacks to fullmetal heeheh). Anyways, I am really happy for you, Goodwin! Thank you for writing out a detailed post. Don't be afraid to it often as you like. We appreciate it!

2021-04-12 12:31:08 +0000 UTCCongratulation on the 1000 plus supporters on here and I know your happy and probably a lil stressed over the double video but don't burn yourself out just keep going at your own pace I get excited when it's just a single extra video a week so don't stress I'm sure other people feel thw same way

2021-04-12 10:41:03 +0000 UTCYou are the most insightful youtuber I've ever come across. I do not have people in my personal surroundings that have such a developed life philosophy as you, so hearing you talk about your views and opinions has taught me a lot. Also in a very fun way, watching series that I love. I've also come across situations where I find myself thinking about what you said in your videos, for example that it is better to not judge people on their political viewpoint but by their morality, because they could very well have the same values as you, but believe in a different way to achieve them, and writing them off because of that could be a missed opportunity for interesting conversations and a good friendship. Anyways, thank you and I'll look forward to all your future videos! (The Good Place maybe? *wink wink*)

2021-04-12 10:32:51 +0000 UTCcongrats man! i remember becoming a patron for the first time because of your Korra reactions. honestly one of the best bits of content i digest and i always look forward to every upload! keep doing what youre doing and i’m sure good things will keep on coming your way :)

2021-04-12 09:37:40 +0000 UTCDefinitely got to give a congratulations for this one:) (Don't usually comment even though I've been a patron for a bit but felt like this was worth commenting on:) Hope you have great success and your reactions and discussions are always incredibly insightful.

2021-04-12 08:19:23 +0000 UTCCongrats!!! Definitely well deserved. You are my first ever patreon sub and it was really nice to see you grow since ATLA. I definitely agree with the approach you took with the 2 videos per day thing. I think it is a sure-fire way to burnout without an editor. On that note I think you can definitely make random extra videos here and there (like aot in 9 mins or fun little shorts for the fruit saga). Keep up the good work and I hope to see you grow a lot bigger! It would be awesome if you'd grow enough to hire an editor to give you enough time to do more awesome videos.
Mert
2021-04-12 07:56:28 +0000 UTCFirst of all, as someone who's been watching you since your Midnight Gospel reactions, congrats for making it this far!!! I personally would love nothing more than watching twice of you every day, but as you said, one video is already a lot of work, so I think your idea of building up to it gradually is great. And while my binging brain loves the idea of you watching 2 videos of the same show every day, I like the interaction we get episode from episode, so whenever you get to 2 videos a day, I think it'd be great if it was 1 video of each show you're watching, or alternatively another 3rd show if you're up for it!

2021-04-12 07:54:46 +0000 UTCYay!!! Congrats!! Happy to support with the rest of the patrons on here! One thing I love about this patreon community is the freedom to be able to discuss and share thoughts. Other patreons I used to support started to be filled with people hating on the creators for not understanding characters or, God forbid, have their own opinion! Your content is unique in that sense. Since it's very discussion based, you've gathered an audience of like-minded people who are able to discuss and share opinions. Whether it's 1 or 2 videos daily, we don't want you turning into no-sleep Aang.

2021-04-12 07:52:12 +0000 UTCCongrats Alex, a well deserved accomplishment. As someone who considers themselves to be earlier on in their journey than you, I always find your insights incredibly helpful and thought provoking. I needed to hear what you had to say about dreams, and as you’ve adapted and grown from a lot of what you experience from media, I’ve adapted and grown a lot from much of what you’ve talked about. Believe it or not you’ve had a pretty profound impact on me, so thank you for what you do and for the value you’ve put out there. As an aside, something I would really like to see a quick random video of for one of the sporadic uploads would be a discussion kind of video. Where even if media is set aside, you use a topic or a philosophy as a subject and dive into it. Thanks again and huge congrats!

2021-04-12 07:36:58 +0000 UTCHah! Awesome! I’ve been a big fan of a lot of YouTube/Patreon channels over the years, but never so excited for the FUTURE of a channel. Like, I got unjustifiably hyped reading “surprise series”. Very excited, very cool, very glad this is working out this well for you
MikeWest
2021-04-12 07:36:25 +0000 UTCHmmmm I didn't realize that. So that makes each season about movie length.

2021-04-12 07:33:57 +0000 UTCI appreciate the fact that you included a TL;DR on the post of a guy who wrote a 5,000,000,000 word thank you message lmao. Speaking of principles. But in all seriousness, that is awesome to hear. Video and audio production can be really rewarding, and more generally just the feeling of working on something or completing something often makes any project worth it just in itself.

2021-04-12 07:32:54 +0000 UTCCongratulations, you really deserve it. This community is awesome and I'm really glad to be part of it. Movies (maybe 1 per month?) and shorts series (I'd totally recommend The Boys I know it's not done but it's a short one) would be amazing, as I said before I really prefer quality over quantity and I bet most of the Patreons share the same opinion.

2021-04-12 07:27:47 +0000 UTCCongrats man. I've really enjoyed seeing your outlook on life through these shows over the last year. Cheers to more success. Infinity train could work for a short show since episodes are 10 minutes each and there are 10 episodes a season.

2021-04-12 07:24:01 +0000 UTC(So patreon didn't actually save my comment when I posted it for some reason, but I copied it beforehand like a wizard) I just read the official Goodwin TV novel. Definitely bestseller worthy. Jokes aside, that was pretty insightful for me. I've been wanting to delve into video and podcast creation for years, I'm waiting to finish up my senior semester of HS and see if I have time for it then. Your channel (and actually channels like Caleb City funnily enough) has inspired me more in this regard. Actually, after watching your ATLA reactions, that is what partially gave me the idea to start an ATLA analysis podcast as a school project. We ended up watching book 1 over a span of a few weeks and had 3 podcast episodes breaking down the season and going into character motivations. For me, that was a sign that I can do something interesting and that I enjoy. TL;DR Your comments on this post are valuable to me since I want to pursue this sort of thing in my future.

2021-04-12 07:11:41 +0000 UTCCongrats! You really deserve it, and here's to many more. The thoughts and insights you've written here are interesting as always as well. As for the idea of more content... well, let me be frank. If you doubled your output immediately, I would absolutely be happy as a clam. You publish it, I'll probably watch it. And if anything, I think this most recent poll has made it clear that there are a ton of different shows out there that people are clamoring to see you watch, so the sooner we can start to get to some more of those, the better. But I will echo the sentiment that above all, you absolutely should not overwork yourself or push to the point of burning out just to meet some quota. The point of more content would be moot if you're not even excited to make it anymore. So yeah, I'd like to see more over time if you're willing to make it - but taking it slow makes sense.

2021-04-12 07:10:17 +0000 UTCCongratulations and this a great read! Thanks for the insight and the advices because I feel like I can actually apply a few of these to my own life. Regarding doing double videos, you should definitely take your time to slowly and organically scale up so that you do not feel burnt out. And a few ideas, maybe you can do a movie reaction now and then, and for TV shows that your subs request, you can react to just the pilot episode. Watching the rest can then be at your discretion after the reaction. Congrats again!
